2017-18 Prediction Contest Summary

This year's contest drew 87 participants, slightly behind the record participation of two seasons ago. Seawrightspostgame is clearly the most optimistic poster with his 26-3 prediction. The most pessimistic predictions of 18-11 were made by three posters which if realized means no NCAA post season for the Rams.

For readability, I have clustered the predictions, first by overall record, then by A-10 record, and then by teams scoring sequenced from highest to lowest. Please review summary and let me know if there are errors. I get a bit crossed eyed putting this together.

NOTE: Ties do not affect the overall contest, but the two bonus contests are so impacted. A few people have submitted duplicates and have not responded to private messages to make corrections. I have noted the duplicates in this summary. If they want to qualify they must send corrections to me via private message, since the opening thread is now locked.

I don't think so, injuries are part of the game, you can't restart the contest every time someone gets hurt. The first time around with EC was a little different, being so early in the first game of the year and his season being over. In my opinion that was a one time thing. If you open it up to changing every time something happens then where does it end?

......I would say no.....back then we knew he would be out for the entires season after like 10 minutes into season......how to we judge when he will be back, is 4 weeks the same as 6 weeks.....at two games per week?......to quote a Jennifer Nettles “shit happens”.....after all it is gambling......

With the Rams OOC record at 6-3 with two games remaining, the sad fact is that several posters have been already eliminated because they cannot possibly achieve the OOC prediction they made. However, this is not true in overall record clusters where there are no other betters or in the case where everyone in the cluster has an incorrect OOC prediction.

The Rams complete the OOC schedule with a record of 8-3. This means that all those bettors who did not predict a 8-3 record are eliminated from the contest. There are two conditions where this does not apply: 1) if you are the only bettor in the overall record cluster or 2) you are in a cluster where everyone got the OOC record wrong.

EC has played in 50% of the games played to date and the rule is you have to play in about 75% of games to qualify for top scorer honors. He will be added to list soon since I am not rigid on this one, beside Top Scorer is not one of the bonus contests.
