Rules changed last year by NCAA
Schools can release the box score if they want to

http://collegebasketball.ap.org/article ... crimmagesl

College basketball teams are allowed either two exhibition games or one exhibition game and one closed scrimmage.
These games have been commonly referred to as 'secret' because NCAA rules dictate that while teams can replace one of their two allowed exhibition games with a Division I opponent, it must be closed to the public and media. The only people allowed to attend are the players, coaches, game officials, and what the NCAA deems as 'essential personnel.'

It's actually true. Lost by 7, Berry had 26 (lead all scorers) on 11/14 shooting, but I heard he also gave up a lot of points on defense. 3 point shooting was atrocious again going 1/11 and both teams stunk it up for the first 8 minutes of the scrimmage. With 12 left in the first half Harvard lead 8-4. This scrimmage was played as a real game.

Let's hope these shooting woes don't continue!

With our frontcourt issues this could be more of a struggle than we think....

I know it's a scrimmage and Cyril was out [anyone else?] but if we shoot poorly from outside we will have trouble....

Definitely going to see zones if this continues.

It's going to take Hurley some time to figure out the rotation and how to best employ this many guards.
He also spends much more time at this point working on defense.

Somehow some way Layssard needs to be a contributing big man on this years team for them to achieve the success everyone expects. Berry cannot play man defense. It's too bad because he has some positive contributions on offense but his D is non existent

Dre,
What was the final score? 26 points is a lot for an exhibition game so just wondering how Berry's 26 represents as a percentage of the total points scored? Wonder how many of Berry's points came from offensive rebounds?
Did anyone not play?
Any surprise performances on the plus side? How did Russell look?

Hass and KI are major losses and I think some of us tend to gloss over this. We believe we are a 'program' now that can quickly transition and continue to compete for A10 Championships and NCAA births. We will see.

It will be very interesting to see how this rotation shakes out and which other big besides Langevine will step up and become a real contributor. My fear is it's Langevine and no one else, which I can't see being enough for this team to make the tourney.

Can't wait for the games to start!

The thing is, even if we get off to a rough start, I think we're head and shoulders above everyone else in the conference this season. Every other team has more questions and doesn't have as many answers.

Agreed, A10 is certainly weaker than it's ever been in recent history. That's good in one way but bad in another.

I much prefer the scenario where we have a strong conference and 3-4 teams get in than a weak conference and you have to win the A10 to get in.

Legit concern Roady Jay and I agree.
We cannot reach our ceiling without at least a 2nd big contributing meaningful minutes and production - whether it be Preston, Akele, Berry or Layssard. We don't even need points out of that position, defense and rebounding more crucial. I'm hoping after 15-20 games that guy can be Preston.

.......for me the key is Preston to develop into the major front court contributor we are going to need.....honestly was disappointed what he showed in the exhibition game.....Coach took that on during the radio show saying he should have gotten him more minutes.....problem is he has to come up to speed at this level very quickly......

I think for Preston to get significant PT to improve...going to have to be less emphasis on 'making sure all 6 guards get enough minutes. But...hurls knows the squad better than we do.

Yahoo, citing anonymous legal sources familiar with Chinese law but who did not want to publicly speak out about the Chinese government, reports that shoplifting in China can lead to punishments as heavy as 3-10 years in prison. In the wake of the players being let out on bail, that punitive action seems highly unlikely.

Loved this quote from EC

“Instead of having that desire to be just like the big-time schools and the big names, we are that,” Matthews said. “I feel like we’re going to get a team’s best effort every game now. That makes us work even harder.”

NIT Season Tip-off
Date: Nov. 23
Location: Barclays Center, New York
Matchups: Virginia vs. Vanderbilt, Rhode Island vs. Seton Hall
Last year's champion: Temple
Grade: A-
Comment: I'm in love with this field of teams. Rhode Island vs. Seton Hall is a matchup of stars in E.C. Matthews for the Rams and Angel Delgado for the Pirates; Virginia-Vandy should be a nice early season indicator as to how both teams should shape up in its respective conferences. All four should be headed to the NCAAs if they play to their projections in the preseason.

URI Seton Hall comes in as the 32nd "game to watch" this non-conference season. I'm a tad biased but I'd definitely list the URI/PC game ahead of at least a dozen of the games on this list.

Interesting he has Davidson at Nevada but I would for sure have Rhode Island @ Nevada

43. Davidson at Nevada (Nov. 21)
I will stay up past my bedtime to watch Peyton Aldridge and Jordan Caroline go at it, and you should, too.

32. Seton Hall vs. Rhode Island (NIT Season Tip-Off) (Nov. 23)
Both of these northeastern squads boast significant returnees from NCAA tournament teams, and fan bases that are thirsty for an even higher degree of success. Khadeen Carrington vs. E.C. Matthews figures to be a nice Thanksgiving Day treat for hoop heads.

And for sure Rhode Island @ Alabama on December 6 is a Top 50 non-conference game - but did not make the list

PC is as good or better than Seton Hall, Alabama, Nevada and it carries with it all the in-state rivalry tension.

I'm not that mad about the best games list, given that they were clearly trying to include as many teams as possible and some obscure games that might go under the radar.

HOWEVUH [Stephen A. Smith voice], EC listed as #90 on this list (https://www.sbnation.com/a/ncaa-top-100-2017) while BJ Johnson from LaSalle comes in at #78, Kyron Cartwright at #72, Peyton Aldridge at #48, and Rodney Bullock at #47 is a travesty.

If you're going by the rivalry factor, then PC/URI should be on this list and higher than any other game that would involve Rhody. And the fact that both have high expectations, adds to that. However, if you consider all facets of the games, then URI/Seton Hall is probably the best of the 4 games. URI and Seton Hall have been thorns in each other's sides in recent years and both have some good star power that is notable. That said, all four URI games mentioned could easily be on the list.
