Yeah I wouldn't look into every little detail like that. I think they obviously just have a jersey that they give to kids to put on and take a photo with when they visit. They aren't making a new uniform for every recruit.

Re: '18 MD PG - Brendan Adams (Offer)
He has been our number 1 guard target all along from what it looks like, today is another huge day for the program. He is a rivals top 150 player for whatever that is worth so outside "experts" rates him very high as does obviously the staff.TruePoint wrote:I can't figure out what the discussion above me is all about but if you're questioning whether you/we want this guy, the answer is hell yes. All-league potential player, can play along side the other guards already on the roster and in this class, and could be as good or better than all of them. Would be a huge pickup for URI, and if the last month or so played out a little differently people here would be absolutely giddy about possibility of getting this guy this morning.
Come on home, Brendan.

The highlighted area doesn’t happen much, usually never... the staff is comfortable with taking all 5 and only having one open next year... bank on Adams being a highly regarded needEGram wrote:I want Adams (assuming Hurley still does). BUT if he doesn't pick us i won't feel like it's much of a hit.
We already have a terrific on paper class for 18. Adams would take our last scholly.
I was debating this with some friends/family and my father tried to argue he would prefer we not get Adams. The idea being it keeps open a scholly we may find ourselves wishing we had. So many good 5th year seniors, more regular transfer then ever, not to mention JT like situations...
Personally, i think staff is well aware of the advantages of keeping open that last scholly. If Adams signs with us its means they feel he is a guy they want badly as they would pull the offer otherwise.

There's better than a 50-50 chance they'll have another scholarship open up.

There could be a lot more because of the FBI investigation. We have 2 schollies next year (Akele's and Preston's). That being said, I still want Adams.NorthernRamFan wrote:The highlighted area doesn’t happen much, usually never... the staff is comfortable with taking all 5 and only having one open next year... bank on Adams being a highly regarded needEGram wrote:I want Adams (assuming Hurley still does). Adams is a smidge below 4* and would be a great add to this team. I think if he signs with us he moves to 4*. This would be a great get.

Can't blame him for wanting to wait until the Jets/Browns game is completed before announcing his choice.

What's the thought process behind this? I would think you take your swings at four star types and if you only land one then you save the other for transfers, etc. Odds are even filling the 5 this year, somebody will transfer at year end opening a position for a summer transfer.NorthernRamFan wrote:Staff has indicated to a friend they only plan on using 1 scholly next year...

I would think it has to do with playing time and not recruiting over players.

There's a pic of his mother wearing a Ray Lewis jersey. She's from Maryland. In the pic, Brendan has a shirt with NY on it. Mom explains that is because his dad is from NY.ramfan85 wrote:Maybe if he comes here, he'll "see the light."TruePoint wrote:Ugh. And I was liking her, too. If someone thinks they heard that, something was lost in translation. If they end up with more than one open scholarship, they will take as many good players as they have space for.Iggy1979 wrote:This makes zero senseNorthernRamFan wrote:Staff has indicated to a friend they only plan on using 1 scholly next year...

Correct. They were originally only going to take 4 with this class as well.TruePoint wrote:If someone thinks they heard that, something was lost in translation. This makes Georgia look bad not better. I would think Adams has his first choice already selected and coaches may have already been notified by this point but could easily be wrong.DC_Rams wrote:Now, this is a curveball. Brendan may be reconsidering right about now....

Very strange. Nolley was considered to be a heavy lean towards Virginia Tech. Was a big surprise when he selected Georgia last night.CT Rhody wrote:
Interesting that David Duke, PC recruiting target, is considered leaning towards Virginia Tech. Does the Nolley change away from Georgia make him more likely to go to Virginia Tech? or to another team? Does Nolley to Virginia Tech make Duke more or less likely to consider Virginia Tech? More likely to consider PC?
Is there something brewing with Brendan Adams going to Georgia that made Nolley change his mind because of too many guards there? Doubtful but who knows.
Very strange to have started with 32 teams, narrowed to a Final 4 and then a Final 2 and then back out of his final pick the very next day.

I think he's trying to make a point about Adams. Certainly possible that Nolley's decommitment from UGA could impact Adams' decision, but I think he and his family have run too good of a process to this point to change their minds today. We'll see in an hour or two, I guess.

Either way we are in a great position. We get Adams and strengthen an already excellent class or we likely hold a scholarship available for a special late opportunity. Either way I'm completely thrilled. I do think he is ours.

Re: '18 MD PG - Brendan Adams (Offer)
I know some don’t like to focus on position played but Nolley is a SF and Adams is a PG. They wouldn’t compete for playing time.ramster wrote:Very strange. Nolley was considered to be a heavy lean towards Virginia Tech. Was a big surprise when he selected Georgia last night.CT Rhody wrote:

It looks like Nolley made his decision/announcement while still on his official visit at UGA. Guessing his parents had him pull that back based on his tweet.

Nope, nto wrong thread, theblueram wrote:Again Ramster, wrong thread your posting in.
Nolley signed with Georgia last night, then he reneged today, less than 24 hours later. Georgia is and has been an option for Adams. Could the reneging by Nolley have anything to do with Adams going to Georgia? Did Georgia tell Nolley that they had inside info that Adams was going to pick Georgia? Did Nolley then rethink and now want to go with his original choice of Virginia Tech?
Doubtful for sure, very doubtful, but the reneging by Nolley less than 24 hours later was incredibly strange.

Re: '18 MD PG - Brendan Adams (Offer)
Right. That's all ground that has been covered already. You never know what's going on behind the scenes, but since these guys don't play the same position, Nolley's decommitment actually probably hurts UGA here to extent there was any indecision for Brendan. Further, it seems like people have sussed out that the reason Nolley changed his mind on UGA is that he got carried away on his visit and his parents talked him out of it when he got home. Obviously we don't actually know any of that, but from an occom's razor way of looking at it, I think it makes sense. I guess we will know soon enough.ramster wrote:Nope, nto wrong thread, theblueram wrote:Again Ramster, wrong thread your posting in.
