Re: Local Microbreweries
Tried out Revival and its upstairs neighbor Brutopia yesterday.
The beers were excellent, have a nice selection of all styles - I really enjoyed the Rocky Point Red and Burnsider Pale Ale.
Upstairs in Brutopia they have a FANTASTIC Smokey Barbecue menu and serve all of Revival's beer.
Great activity for Saturday/Sunday where you want to get your fill, then go home and sleep it off...

So...Proclamation Ale is moving out of the local warehouse, but saying that it's going to be left for another brewer to move in...anyone hear any rumors who it might be? (Pretty happy there's going to be a replacement)

Finally got to try some Treehouse...I've heard two things repeatedly about the place...great product, ridiculous lines. Someone was kind enough to share and I really liked the Lights On...but...there are so many places with good products...where you don't have to sleep overnight to get in line...probably won't ever actually get there...

The July 2017 opening of the new Tree House Brewing Co campus in Charlton, MA has generated a lot of buzz in MA and in the beer community. It is located on Route 20 Sturbridge Road (just to the east of Sturbridge south of the MA Pike).

There are currently 12 applications within RI's DBR applying for a license to become a liquor manufacturer (which means brewery, brewpub, brew on premises, distillery, farmer winery, rectifier, &/or winery). They may not all work out as some will probably falter, but WOW that is a lot of new breweries.

It's going to be harder and harder for new breweries to stand out from the crowd. My local package store has three full aisles of craft beers from throughout the region and country. Unfortunately, I can't try them all without risking serious damage to my waistline and liver.spookydog wrote:There are currently 12 applications within RI's DBR applying for a license to become a liquor manufacturer (which means brewery, brewpub, brew on premises, distillery, farmer winery, rectifier, &/or winery). I will say...the number of good options seems to be growing all the time.
So, where is it that you have 3 full aisles of craft beer....need to find that place and do my part.

Re: Local Microbreweries
We were hoping to go Saturday - heading down south for a holiday party - but it's looking unlikely now with the weather. I did go to the new Proclamation space, and they've scaled up quite a bit. They need some more furniture, but because it's only about a mile from my place, I'm probably going to hit it up way more often than the old one.NYGFan_Section208 wrote:anyone tried Shaidzon yet?

This looks interesting from Shaidzon...anyone tried it?
Never Tomorrow - IPA, 6.5%
Dry hopped with Citra and Galaxy hops.
Available in 750ml bottles, growlers, and for on-site pours
Letourneau’s Never Tomorrow IPA, which is very citrusy but also has a malt balance.

Re: Local Microbreweries
Got over there to try it tonight. They had 6 different brews on tap...but, to me, it's almost impossible to beat a solid American IPA, so this was the only one I tried. The good news is that it was quite tasty...citrusy AND hoppy, but not bitter. The bad news, brewer said they won't always have an IPA on tap....NYGFan_Section208 wrote:This looks interesting from Shaidzon...anyone tried it?

I definitely recommend hitting up Shaidzon prior to Rhody games. They were even purposely open for a few hours prior to tipoff just for Rhody fans last night. They have a wide range of styles & everything I have had from them has been good/great. So I would definitely keep this spot in mind. Especially being <10 min from the Ryan Center.

Some RI beer news I've heard...
Newport Storm possibly closing. Didn't meet benchmark for investors of new space. So maybe still brewing but in a much smaller spot
Bucket brewery closing in the next few months.
Ex Patriot Dan Koppen opening a new brewery in SK
The brewery in Newport Vineyards should be opening soon.
New brewery in Johnston is getting closer to opening as well.

Wow - Bucket closing because of lack of business, or closing to upgrade its space? I actually like their beer best of anywhere in Rhode Island, and the few times we've been there for events, the place has been packed.spookydog wrote:Some RI beer news I've heard...

Newport Storm seems to be between niches, in a way. When I was in college, I remember them being the only game in town, and we loved going up there every Friday to do the tour and get some free beers before a party that night. (We would also buy their beer when we saw it in stores.) Now though, the beer doesn't really stack up vs. the rest of the RI craft offerings, but they're not nearly big enough to compete with like a Sam Adams.

I believe closing because lack of business and the owner doesn't want to do it anymore. Personally I was not a fan of the things that I had from them. I think the sentiment is held by a lot of people. There is a reason why them & Coddington were the only 2 RI breweries not invited to Beervana.SGreenwell wrote:Wow - Bucket closing because of lack of business, or closing to upgrade its space?
