Gm 3 Harvard - 9/16 1pm
Gm 3 Harvard - 9/16 1pm
Don't have time for a full write up for this one, but want a place to discuss if people are following. This is Harvard's first game so maybe we can jump on them. Really hope to see an improvement in ball security. Go Rhody.

Teenage wasteland being played by the Meade PA while a Harvard player is being strapped to a stretcher. Not exactly a great choice

OT but similar situation right now in the UCLA Memphis game where a Memphis player wasn't moving, strapped to a stretcher. Didn't look good

Tough not to get 7 down there, but Harris looking good. Taking care of the ball and all of a sudden the offense is looking competent. Amazing how that works.

Did a good job of finishing the next possession off. Was worried we were going to settle for 3 again when we got down inside the 10. The difference is their running back who is averaging 20 yards a carry!

Big time win. Outstanding job by the defense to bend but not break. Our DLine does a better job of getting pressure on the QB then they have in recent years. Linebackers have to do a better job of wrapping up those running backs!ramster wrote:Nice job by URI today!!!!

Thought that Harris did a great job. Good decisions with the ball today and didn't try and force anything. A few key completions to keep drives going. Lawson came in and threw an ill-advised ball.

Great win! Being able to put pressure on the QB without blitzing makes all the difference in the world. I would have liked the offense to be less conservative on first and second downs, I think we could have scored more. URI has more talent than Harvard and outside of Villanova and James Madison I believe we have the players to win more than we lose. Not sure if we have the coaching.

Awesome...too bad they aren't established as 'good'...if they were, seems like the game at UNH next weekend would be perfect bus trip material....
Get the bus around noon...arrive around 230-3 for a 330 kickoff...Anyone local to Kingston making the trip?

Talent level is there. Don't remember a better crop of WRs in the last decade or two. Coaching is key now. Play calling still iffy, played not to lose and too conservative at times even tho it was clear they couldn't handle our wide outs. Parker could be playing FBS in my opinion. I think Harris can be the guy.

Re: Gm 3 Harvard - 9/16 1pm
Late on this, been busy all weekend.
Could not have been more wrong. I really thought Harvard was going to come in and take care of business. LOVE that Rhode Island pulled off the upset. I'm going to watch the replay later today, but great stuff. This was a very good team they just beat! Let's see if this can travel to UNH next week. UNH just got blown out by Holy Cross. Maybe we can pull another one off in Durham??

The next several games are very winnable. UNH, Brown, Maine, and Elon.
They should win at least 2 if not 3 of them.
Maybe saying "should" is a little ambitious at this point, but it's there.

I had not heard anything more about this. Hoping for the best for this kid.
Cornerback Ben Abercrombie, from Hoover, Alabama, didn’t get up from the ground after making a sideline tackle during the second quarter of Harvard’s season opener September 16 against the University of Rhode Island. He was rushed to Rhode Island Hospital where he underwent emergency surgery to repair a fracture and take pressure off his spinal cord.
“Ben is currently on ventilator and has no feeling in his arms and legs but we are hopeful that will change and improve everyday as he heals,” hi

Ben's lungs have continued to improve even though he is still battling some congestion. The PT staff here had him sitting in a specialized chair today for over an hour! The respiratory staff performed some breathing therapy while he was sitting up and it helped to clear out a lot of congestion. With clearer lungs, Ben has started the weaning process from the ventilator and has done well. Ben is also regaining some feeling in his arms and legs. Praise God! We ask everyone to keep praying that Ben makes a successful transition to breathing without assistance and then we will shift focus to the paralysis.
The support locally and back in Alabama continues to give Ben and our family great comfort during this battle. Coach Saban called Ben today to encourage him and let our family know that everyone back in Alabama is thinking of us and ready to assist us during Ben's recovery. Coach Murphy at Harvard calls us everyday to encourage us and to ask Sherri and me what we need while we are away from home. Pete Brock from the Patriots alumni group stopped by again today to motivate Ben and gave him a package of gifts from the Patriots. Ben received inspiration last night from a video Coach Niblett shared of a special prayer for Ben at the Hoover Bucs Men of Will prayer group. We read all of the comments on CaringBridge to Ben as well as the hundreds of letters he receives in the mail. God Bless everyone for caring so much about Ben and our family to write the wonderful posts and letters!
