Re: Hurling
When I first heard hurling at Fenway, I figured any Saturday night in the bleachers. But then I looked it up. Kind of like field hockey combined with rugby.

Re: Hurling
Eh. If it were curling then I'd be interested. Curling is unique. Hurling looks like a dumb game me and my friends would have invented if we had nothing to do in the summer and we only had mismatched sports equipment.

Re: Hurling
And...as is the case anytime folks don't have enough to do and mismatched equipment...risk of injury looks pretty decent

Re: Hurling
Risk of injury looks approximately 100%. Risk of death I would handicap at about 20%. So if that's your thing, maybe that is a reason to buy a ticket.

Re: Hurling
When I was a kid...with not enough to do...I guess that kinda was our thing (see: BB gun and chunks of sheet rock fights).
Now, it's all about injury avoidance and good IPAs... I might watch for about 5 minutes on TV...no way I'm buying a ticket...

I actually went to a match in Ireland which was for some sort of cup. Cork vs Waterford 20k plus in the stands and the players were very good I thought it was highly interesting and would go again

If you are into Irish sports, you should check out the Irish Cultural Centre of New England in Canton, MA. It hosts the biggest annual Irish festival in New England as well as several sports of the Boston Gaelic Athletic Association on its many athletic fields throughout the year.
