If either of them are capable of throwing a forward pass then its an immediate upgrade. Nice to see them trying to make some changes.

Rhode Island football is not an attractive place to play, no matter how much playing time is available.

Should be interesting to see the competition. Reminds me a bit of last years competition with a mobile QB (McKoy) and a pocket QB (Vazzano). It seemed like Vazzano continued to struggle in the spring, he was something like 14-40 in the Spring game.
When looking at transfer QBs in the past 15 years or so, I thought the kid from Rutgers was solid (Etienne I believe), and Probst had a decent year (FCS), while Mack Lowrie struggled.
It is a decent situation for both these guys because they have a chance to come in and compete right away for PT on a team with an expereinced senior RB, and a veteran core of receivers (Parker, Beavouis, Buckner, Denny etc). I would certainly be feeling better if either one (or both!) had been here for Spring camp.

Vazzano attempted 65.6% of the teams passes, 86-210 (41% completion), 1195 yards, 132.8 per game, 5.7 per attempt. 7 TD's to 15 interceptions, which is really bad. He was 14-of-39 (36% completion) for 118 yards and one interception in the spring game. He had a lot of work to do if he was ever going to be the guy.

I'll roll the dice on the kid that was offered by Alabama. Sight unseen!

They can't be any worse than what we had.

Seriously though, this is encouraging news.

The QB position at URI has been a revolving door of suck so this gives me hope.

I do like that Harris is a former ESPN Top 300 recruit.

I actually think our receiver group has some potential. I've been worried about our ability to get the ball to them, so maybe this will help.

Fleming's tenure has been marked by a singular ineffectiveness at QB. Not one of these players got beyond there first read and the result was too many interceptions and open receivers never being found. Coaching? After 3 years of this mess, I think the answer is clear.

URI would be instantly better if they took care of the ball. Under Fleming they have not. Vazzano was a very inaccurate passer, even on short routes. If these two can cut down on INTs it will be a big improvement

Great point. This coaching staff does not value ball security.

Yea ball security problems were becoming a tradition for the rams in recent seasons, you know like the typical heartbreaker interception on the goal line. So I'm glad to see a possible improvement at QB.

These 2 new QB's are Fleming's last best hope to keep his job.
