Favorite Moment (so far)

Unread post by sf2010 »

I'd like to hear everybody's favorite moment(s) from the Rams so far in the first year of the Hurley Era!

For me it was watching the SLU game on my laptop, watching as URI absorbed body blow followed up uppercut from Mitchell and the Rams having an answer every time. One of the most excited ends I've seen in several years, and it was especially sweet knowing what a quality team SLU is.

On the court, Munford's shot vs. Dayton.
Off the court, meeting the Hurley's for the first time and realizing that
these are regular people, who are determined to make a difference at URI.
No censors, no baloney.

My favorite moment is yet to come this year....when the last whistle blows and the road to next season immediately begins...

Mine would have to be Mike Aamans performance against Vermont. A nice breakout game for him. Seems like a hard worker and I like it when players like that who work hard have a good performance on game day. 15 pts and 8 rebs.

I would have to say Andre Malone's dunk to start off the VCU game is one of my favorite moment of the season. Solid crowd that night and the RC really got rocking.

The PC/uri post game press conference. The intensity in the rivalry has been turned up.

It's a tie between when Rod told me Baron was fired and when he told me that the Hurleys were hired.
Every minute since has been pretty good. That is until a few days ago.

I agree with Rammgr, the press conference with the two generations of Hurley's.....in the old house....

My Favorite Moment was when I heard that EC Mathews verbaled to URI. Having seen him play live, I knew that he was a legit talent. Obtaining a verbal from a player of this caliber I believe really legitimzed the hiring of this new Coaching Staff. I also think this helped with the signing of Hassan Martin - and we are not done yet. This is to me the biggest news of this season by far.

Consider:.
URI is the ONLY A10 Team to have a player ranked in the Top 100 for all 3 Major Ranking Sites including Rivals, ESPN and Scout

Rivals: EC Mathews for URI was the only Top 100 signee for the A10.
Since Rivals goes to 150 players the others for the A10 were :
Dayton- Kyle Davies, Dayshon Smith
VCU - Jarius Lyles - who I have seen play live and this kid shot the lights out the night I saw him, especially in the 4th quarter
Butler - Rene Castro - who I have seen many times live and I would have loved to have seen him land at URI, Nolan Berry
Temple - Josh Brown
URI - Hassan Martin
Interesting that Brandon Randolph for Xavier was not even in the Top 150 for Rivals

ESPN - URI signed EC Mathews, Xavier - Brandon Randolph and St Joe - Deandre Bembry

Scout - URI signed EC Mathews, Xavier - Brandon Randolph

Sorry for not sticking to one
1. X's shot against Dayton
2. Being at Hurley's press conference at Keaney
3. Anytime this team went on a run and forced the opposing coach to take a time out.

It was a dunk. I don't remember who did it, but the ally-oop was thrown a little behind him and he still managed to throw it down.

+1

They were down a bunch in the final minute, so they had to foul after a made basket.
Problem was they had only 2 team fouls!!!
So they had to foul over and over, with one steal and score thown in, before Auburn got
to the line...
Then the tying 3-pointer was a horrific shot..."oh no, that has no chance of...GOING INNN!!!!
What a great shot!!!"

And the dayton win was sorely needed, and thus came at the perfect time.
Better days are hopefully almost here.
