Re: 2016 PF COREY MANIGAULT
URI Staff has been watching him this week.
He is the nephew of NY City Harlem Playground Legend Earl (the Goat) Manigault
Earl played back in the days of Lew Alcinder - unfortunately his college career did not flourish but he was one heck of a NY City Playground Legend.
UMASS was the first to offer. URI and Miami offered on the same day June 18th.
Lots of schools now looking at him this summer.

New Pitt commit Corey Manigault continues to develop as a low post presence. The top-115 prospect was a high priority for Pitt early on.

The Goat!!! Ledgened had it that he could jump up and put a quarter on top of the backboard. Goat didnt go pro because at the time he could make more hustling games on the playground.

Cox will reach out, but I think this is a fit only if another scholarship opens up.

Agreed, but I definitely think he is worth a serious look if one does open up. He was a consensus top 100 or 150 recruit and is very impressive physically . Who know what happen as a freshman. He was recruited by Jamie Dixon, who always thrived on big guys/bodies and physically tough, defensive minded teams. Stallings coaches with much different style. More offensive oriented and not nearly as physical. May be a clash is styles that led to lack of productivity in his freshman year. With our new found fame, who know what doors may have opened or what new opportunities may come our way.Iggy1979 wrote:Cox will reach out, but I think this is a fit only if another scholarship opens up.

I'm sure he'll look at more schools than what was on his final list, but of those, URI would seem to be in the running. UMass and VCU don't have coaches; Georgetown is a train wreck. VA Tech and Wake are in the same conference. He liked Maryland a lot last time around but I don't think they have any scholarships.

This guy has great size. Don't remember seeing him play though.
Just remembered we were trying to get Kyle Washington to transfer here... man would we have been REALLY good with him Cyril, Kuran and Hass up front!

George Mason is a great fit. They need bigs and they're his hometown team.

Chatted with Washington's father in Sacramento. nice guy. Didn't have anything nice to say about NC State. Seems happy with Mick Cronin. said they looked briefly at PC, didn't sound like URI was really ever an option.PeterRamTime wrote:This guy has great size. Don't remember seeing him play though.

Went juco. Interesting. Would not be surprised to see URI get involved again.

Yeah, they're very unlikely to bring in 5 freshmen. It's hard to make much of Manigault's year at Pitt- kind of a wash for all involved. A lot of guys left Stallings program at the end of the season.
Manigault's now at Indian Hills, which is a good program. By going this route, he gets to play next year instead of sitting out, which he may think puts him in a position to have a better opportunity the following season.
