Travel package?
Has anyone heard whether the athletic department will put together a travel package?

I was wondering the same thing. So far all they've posted is the ticket info

Re: Travel package?
Called the ticket they said maybe Tuesday for more information. I would hope proactive communication would be out by tomorrow AM. I am sure they are crazy but this opportunity is a moment you capitalize on every front, alumni, recruiting, donations, scheduling, etc. Capitalize on the moment.

Re: Travel package?
How much does it cost to charter a flight? Is that an option if we get enough people?

Re: Travel package?
Charter would be nice. Maybe if enough people show interest the athletic dept can put something together.

I want in on a charter if the price is reasonable. Let's get fans to the West Coast!!!!!!

The only problem there is that ticket requests have to be in by Monday at 6pmbwerner10 wrote:Called the ticket they said maybe Tuesday for more information. Re: Travel package?
Flights are costly, but if we lose Friday the thought of staying in Sacramento longer than necessary isn't too appealing. That's why I'm hoping there will be a charter.

Weather on Tues. and Wed. could be a problem....maybe the team gets out of Dodge sooner?

Re: Travel package?
We booked the trip. Flight was $650 round trip. Hotel is $200/night (3 in the room) and tickets are $100 per session (2 games per session). We bought all three sessions. Flying back Monday. I can't do the red eye flights. Our hotel is less than 1/2 mile fron the area. Used Travelocity. Didn't want to wait too long on flights and hotel. I would be shocked if a charter flight was less expensive. Flying into SF is an option. We didn't want to rent a car.

Re: Travel package?
Flights booked - flying into SFO since there were more options and times that work with my schedule. Ordered tickets thru the Rhody link - we'll see on Tuesday if we get them. otherwise will evaluate the options. So excited!

Re: Travel package?
Channel 12 Sports just said the team plans to fly out Wednesday night. The thinking on their part is that the storm will only cause flight problems on Tuesday.

Re: Travel package?
That is never true. They have to put planes in the right place, and rebooking the people from Tuesday. Sorry.. travel way tooo much and even think my current Thursday flight could have issues. Think big and get there early!bpaz11 wrote:Channel 12 Sports just said the team plans to fly out Wednesday night. Boy they better not wait to get out of town until Wednesday, that could be a BIG mistake! Leave tonight!

Mobley was fouled.
Re: Travel package?
They have no choice. The NCAA controls all travel arrangements for the team. We may actually be flying out with Iona on the same flight. Different ballgame at this level.RI_Bred wrote:Boy they better not wait to get out of town until Wednesday, that could be a BIG mistake! Leave tonight!

Just booked myself, heard the charter situation was a very steep price so that probably isn't happening.

The basketball gods sending the Rams out to Sacramento almost makes my rent in SF the past few years worth it.

The meet ups tend to be somewhere close to the team hotel, in this case I believe that is the Doubletree.

Re: Travel package?
For the sake of those traveling I hope Sacramento has a nice compact setup for pre and post-game fan enjoyment. The Providence tournaments seem to have a perfect footprint, as fans can walk around to many eating/drinking establishments within range of the arena. Even the "distant" hotels are in Warwick, not a terrible commute. I was secretly hoping Indianapolis was our destination because that is a professional convention and hosting city. It is a great setup there from my convention experience. And there is an Indianapolis Colts bar and grill downtown, a great place to wear your Patriots or Giants gear to subtly remind them Peyton Manning only got one title for them.

We are staying at Vagabond Inn which is 0.4 miles from arena.eli#10 wrote:Rhody83--where are you staying? How close to the venue?
The address is 909 3rd street
Good price with minimum 3 nights stay. We have 3 people in the room. Cost is $200/night before tax.

When I reserved my tickets, I asked how many was URI getting. The response I got was more than a hundred and less than 500.

Re: Travel package?
The K-man was absent from Pitt but if Koussa isn't in Cali I'm sending out an apb.
He's not answering his phone and doesn't have a cell...think about that for a second...
I'm leaving from Greensboro (!) tomorrow...didn't wanna risk getting stuck so I cancelled the flight back to RI Monday and headed south...
Do they have a charter? Who else is coming?

Sounds like if we win and face Oregon it will be a true road game since Oregano fans travel well and Sacto isn't far from there

Re: Travel package?
That sucks that the NCAA gave URI less than 500 tickets. I went to Round 1 at the Dunkin last year. It sure looked like each school had 500 seats together. I just read that URI to Sacramento is the longest distance to travel for any of the 68 teams. Thanks NCAA. We wait 19 years, win our league tournament and you put us 3,000 miles away.

You on the United flight from Chicago? I'm on it right now - noticed at least 4-5 Rhode Island hats/shirts in the crowd.bwerner10 wrote:landing at 3, these are the official Sacramento Events

Yep. Couldn't make Sac work, but if they get to KC, I will 100% be there. I imagine I'm not the only one in this boat.Blue Man wrote:I love the draw though. Billyboy78 wrote:Oh. And I just saw that Lamar and Cat Mobley will be there. Awesome!
Where did you see that?
That would make for four players from the 1997/98 and 1998/99 teams - Reynolds-Dean, Murphy, Mobley, and Odom.
Add in Will Martel, Marquis Jones, and Don Kaull. Very good representation of former URI players.
Hopefully the RI media interviews them so we know what many of them are up to.
