With the Juan being VCU....unless we wake the fuck up and join them.

This "expected" RPI stuff might get a little jumbled with what we're seeing so far......

UMASS impressed me with their defense and scrappiness. I would be impressed with any team that beats a perennial A10 power like VCU or Dayton. I was impressed by Jarreau who was a ESPN top 100, only a freshman from Louisiana and how he was not intimidated by Dayton. Clark often impresses me, we recruited him in HS. Holloway was a beast, some very impressive baskets, solid rebounds and good enthusiasm plus he made some very good defensive plays. Pipkins, also just a freshman, handled the ball well. UMASS bent but did not break against the Dayton full court defense in the last 6 minutes.

I agree Cooke struggled but don't you have to blame daytons coach for Cooke playing so many minutes when first returning? I think our coach would take some heat for a loss to UMASS like that, no?

Shocking loss for Davidson at home.

Cooke was obviously rusty.....but they all sucked......

Dan has been getting heat for a lot of losses so far this season....

As we're seeing, if you don't show up ready to play in this league, you can lose to just about anybody.

ramster, why can't Gibbs or other key players suck against us once in a while?

Remember a couple of years ago, when we almost always shut down the opponent's best player?

Now they run wild against us......

Dan gets heat because his biggest accomplishment as a coach is a loss in the second round of the NIT tournament. Miller has never had a losing season in his five full seasons as head coach and has made three NCAA tournaments including one elite eight.

Simply saying don't blame everything on Cooke and leave all other players and the HC out of it. Not fair to Cooke coming off an injury.

A-10 devouring itself as usual.
Totally didn't see Davidson at 1-3 and Richmond at 4-0 at this point.
I still feel pretty good about our chances to take care of business the majority of nights. Especially at home.
I could see us having a similar game @Umass like Dayton just had. Because we refuse to win there.

ramster, Davidson couldn't even win with the refs' home cooking.......

Think they could stink up the joint with their FG shooting against us?

Of course Archie and the other players share some of the blame. But Josephski is right....Miller has rightfully earned some cache with his record so far at Dayton....the guy's a winner. Sure he throws in a dud once in a while, but he wins most of the close ones.

Would you take his record over his 5 years there? We would kill for such a record. And he struggled for his first 2 years there....but he's gotten a lot better.....and he's had his share of injuries and player issues to boot.

We can't compare him to Dan...because there is no comparison.

All I was saying is don't blame it all on Cooke. The coach decides who plays on the floor. Plus, even if coaches have gotten to the NCAA and ours has not, YET, they can still make mistakes just as we saw with DePaul's miraculous win last night.

De Monte Buckinham, 6'4" freshman guard for Richmond had 18 points and 13 rebounds against St Bonaventure to lead Richmond to 4-0.
Buckingham joined the starting line up 6 games ago vs James Madison.
He was A10 Rookie of the Week once already and possibly on his was to another award this week.

URI offered Buckingham in HS.

Impressive start by Richmond, that will be a difficult game at their place but if they keep playing well it will be an opportunity for a solid road win.

I've never thought of the crowd as the factor there. It's just a weird place to play. Dark, odd court lighting, the floor. Place is creepy.

I agree with you on the Mullins Center. But back in the early 90s when I think it was built, I used to enjoy going up there, watching Rhody and thought it was a very nice venue. Of course that was in the Calipari era, when the were obviously winning at their highest level.

Dayton beats Duquesne, 76-57. Dayton led for practically the entire game building a 13 point halftime lead. Duquesne challenged midway in second half to cut Flyers' lead to 6, but it after the 8 minute mark it was Flyers all the way to win by 19.

PC edged Seton Hall, 65-61.

Richmond remains undefeated in the A-10 as the Spiders, who saw their 18 point lead evaporate to one, withstood the late surge by Saint Joseph's to win 70-66. Big road win for Richmond.

I don't know, but if this board has taught me anything it's that every time you lose a game you deserve to be fired!

Surprise after two weeks of conference play - Richmond is in sole possession of first place with 4-0 record.

- Davidson found its soul with comeback win over VCU, 69-63.

- And just when there appeared to be life in the George Mason program, lowly Saint Louis knocks off the Patriots and nabs a morale boosting road win, 63-56!

- And St. Bonaventure in a easy win over Fordham, 73-53, to re-claim home court superiority after their loss to Dayton there.

Agree,
I had to laugh a few days ago reading several of the threads blowing up on the PC board and several were questioning Cooley's bench coaching ability, and one even mentioned him being weak with X's and O's. Like he needed help from an assistant coach......wait, there seems like a growing demand for these X's and O's guys.....linked in might be a source?

Yesterday was not a great day for URI OOC opponents. In ten games, they went 4-6. Both local teams - Brown and PC won - in addition to Valparaiso and Belmont. Houston lost a road game to improving UCF, 77-70. Old Dominion was soundly beaten on their home court by Louisiana Tech, 75-63.

Will Wade jumped onto a well oiled machine that was a perennial 2nd weekend NCAA team with the recruits and facilities to match.

Dan Hurley had to physically build the machine from scratch.

Wrapping up the week, La Salle continued its fast starts and good shooting to beat GW, 79-69. La Salle never trailed in game and opened the contest with two quick treys to open a lead it never relinquished and built a 20 point margin late in second half before the Colonials cut the final margin to ten.

#22 Cincinnati won its eighth straight win, this one a road test at East Carolina, 55-46. The Bearcats sit atop the American with a 5-0 mark.
