Rhody getting some press in Connecticut
Rhody Fans,
Living in CT - you don't get much press on College Hoops outside of UCONN. Please see attached link to an article in today's Hartford Courant.

We have five starters back, not four.
Still don't get how reporters mess that up...

Technically, he's not wrong. Four McGlynn was a starter last season.

Not in game 1, he wasn't. Same starting five.Rhode_Island_Red wrote:Technically, he's not wrong. Four McGlynn was a starter last season.

Isn't it very unusual for a D1 team to roll out the same season opening starting lineup 2 years in a row?
Never thought about it before.....

Dean Smith used to start all his seniors for the first game. Most didn't start again -- would you say that he lost that many starters from the season before?

So in 90%+ of the games from last year, 4 of 5 starters are back. How's that?Billyboy78 wrote:Not in game 1, he wasn't. Same starting five.Rhode_Island_Red wrote:Technically, he's not wrong. Four McGlynn was a starter last season.
So Billy Boy is less than 10% correct. Congratulations.
How did Rusty Cordua play last night?

BTW, Chris DiSano got the starters thing wrong, too. In Blue Ribbon, he listed Four McGlynn ad s starter.

Re: Rhody getting some press in Connecticut
Got on board tonight to check for/jot down any additional Facebook Live questions and saw this. Technically, someone is deemed a starter who, if memory serves me correctly, starts in 14 or more games or thereabouts - thus disqualifying that player for 6th man of the year consideration. Further, Matthews got a medical redshirt, thus essentially "erasing" his entire 2015-16 year as though he didn't set foot on the court. Slate wiped clean. So, while we all know that "practically" URI returns 5 starters, for purposes of writing previews and giving Four McGlynn his due, he was technically a starter for the 2015-16 campaign. Hope this helps clarify... and hope to see many of you tomorrow.

Chris,
Thanks for your explanation. its great that we can return EC to a returning starting 4. On top of that Robinson was a Top 100 recruit for Indiana and now comes off the bench for URI - quite impressive.
What areas would you like to hear questions from?
Some I can think of right now:
What did Dan, the coaches and players think of the opening night record crowd?
Are we looking at 5th year transfer? Juco? HS Senior? Or all 3 possibilities to fill the 2nd spot for next year's incoming class?
What does he, the team and coaches thing about the A10 tournament being in Pittsburgh this year? Pluses? Closer to ECs home for one for example.
What is the level of excitement from the team for the Cincinnati and Duke/penn state upcoming games?
Do you expect Daron Russell to attend any URI games this year or to visit?
Do you see the team running more this year?
What has impressed you most about this year's team that you did not fully expect?
What areas do you see the need to focus improvement on the most?
How do you see this year's team as far as passing ability is concerned?
Do,you see unselfishness as a strength of this year's team?

Re: Rhody getting some press in Connecticut
Thanks for the clarification, Chris.
Here's a question: Any chance we'll see a combination of Kuran at the 3, E.C. at the 2 and two posts? That could cause all kinds of matchup problems for an opponent.
