Re: '17 RI F Tomas Murphy (Offer)
Not a 5 star. Still a 4 star on ESPN who updates their player ratings about once a decade, but Rivals, Scout, and 247 have reduced him to a 3 star.

Re: '17 RI F Tomas Murphy (Offer)
When he was in 8th grade stories were that he was better than his brothers.
Saw him play AAU this past summer. 3 star is appropriate. Definitely not ESPN Top 100. Needs to get stronger and play more physical for his height

Re: '17 RI F Tomas Murphy (Offer)
I actually played against him at boon street a couple times. He has the tools to be good player at the next level, but I think his ceiling is a solid starter at a good mid major. If he goes to a high major I don't see him getting many minutes.

I thought that this was "quiet time" as far as recruiting goes????

The dead period started yesterday. Here are the dates and designations for 15-16. April is quite colorful.Rhodekill wrote:I thought that this was "quiet time" as far as recruiting goes????

Maybe the kid has a better idea of what to do after seeing what happened to his brothers.
Coen's got a good thing going on the Avenue.

Hopefully so. He could stay local and enjoy his college years. Northeastern would be an excellent fit.

Are we still offering this player?

Re: '17 RI F Tomas Murphy (Offer)
Jay Murphy will finally have to pay for Ryan Center tickets now that he has no more sons to recruit.

I saw him In AAU in summer play a year ago. This summer he went off to Finland instead of playing AAU.Ram1019 wrote:I was secretly hoping we had a chance
Maybe he will get more playing time than his brothers got by going Colonial but no guarantee of that.

He must not have improved a lot the last couple of years. He was once considered to be a 5 star recruit.

Re: '17 RI F Tomas Murphy (Offer)
I think it shows how difficult projecting recruits 2-3 years out can be.
At one point, Murphy was thought of as a "big," but his growth never followed suit.
He was 6'6 in 8th grade, 6'7 as a freshmen, and 6'8 heading into his senior year.
I also think there was an injury in there which slowed him down some.

He will have a standout career in that conference. Took the smart route rather than following his brothers to big time programs. Erik had success after a few years but Alex went big time and couldn't swim.

Brother Alex gets granted a 6th year and picks Northeastern as well

I don't get how they are going to play together?

When Tomas gets there, Alex will be gone. Yes, it will be pretty difficult for them to play together.

Yes, I'm seriously confused whether the elder Murphy get an unreported 7th year or the younger Murphy has skipped his senior year of high school and enrolled for this season.Iggy1979 wrote:Seriously?TruePoint wrote:I don't get how they are going to play together?

Alex is playing this year as he transfers in and is immediately eligible. He is on campus.
Tomas is a 2017 recruit. I mistakenly put them playing together and edited this out at least a week ago do not sure where the confusion is now.

Ah, I didn't realize you had edited your post after my comment ramster. I'm sure that is why Iggy is confused and why I didn't understand what Iggy was confused about.

I changed it when you brought it up. Sorry for the confusion. My bad.

Could be a good contributor right away off the bench, think of a better Nikola Akele.

Re: '17 RI F Tomas Murphy (Northeastern Commit)
For a 6’8” player he is a very weak rebounder
When he was heading into Sophomore Year he was a Top 30 player in his class but steadily dropped and ended up going to Northeastern.
We can do better
