What about losing close games at the end? Missing one player is the only reason for that? Bullshit.

Ramster, I agree, CFL the 2nd is a bit harsh.

He isn't going to be in the same situation as Baron was.

If he delivers on his promises, I have no problem with him being here for a long long time.

So you are saying calling Dan Hurley CFLII is justified first two words. Then later you say it's a bit harsh. I'm not sure where you stand.
From where I stand it is complete BS just so you know where I stand. In fact it's embarrassing imho.

Of course CFL II is an exaggeration But the guy was handed a contract extension after one NIT appearance. This season, with the Matthews injury, has been something of a bust. I'm getting too old for a 20-year rebuild.

Ramster, I didn't mean that's justified about being the next CFL.

I meant we are justified to be critical of the team without EC.

The first part of my post was related to that.

The rest was my opinion about Dan. He's not another CFL. If he doesn't get it done within the next couple of years, he won't be around much longer than that.

The end of this season will be 4 years. Anybody think he'll be here as long as JB was, if we don't Dance?

It's an exageration? That was not my take from your statement. Others are now are picking up on it so there's that. There is and always will be a Grand Canyon size type of gap between the two coaches.

ramster, in some ways yes. Dan is miles better than JB was in some respects.

But, JB went to 2 NCAA tourneys earlier in his career.

So far, it's JB 2, Hurley 0.

Hurley has some time to catch up, of course.

But numbers don't lie.

Many people called this season a wash/gave Hurley a pass for this year once EC went down.

I agree the ending of games has been awful, but if this season is a wash/a pass for Dan, we can expect this.

It's not so much as, "close game, give EC the ball and he will score."

With EC in a close game, everyone will concentrate on him, creating open lanes/space for everyone. We look absolutely lost at the end games, it's really sad.

Like I said, I'm just as frustrated by always losing these close games.

But let's stop the talk of Hurley as CFL II. That's a bit ridiculous.

Looking over the standings and reflecting on where URI was against certain teams... 3-3, but URI had a shot in all 3 losses.

IN FACT, URI held a lead or a significant lead in all 3 losses.

Nobody and I mean nobody is happier than yours truly that the Patsies went down. Genius coach Bill should have tried harder to win the Miami game to get home field throughout the playoffs. It is well know that the game plan down there was bizzarre with all the running plays and the team got what it deserved in Denver.

My recollection is that Eli did ok is his Super Bowls leading 2 big underdog teams to the promised land.
No INTs for Eli today but the pretty boy had 2.
Belicheat blew it in Miami with his game plan. If this game was played here today the Patsies win about 30-10.

Rod, if you didn't scare me because you seem so downright angry, you'd crack me up...
Everyone should laugh when the G-men pucker away games...happened a bunch of times this year...just like with a certain college hoops team...

Remember, I'm just a 'pastime' kinda guy...my Giants/Pats memories are all Super Bowl related...so far, I'll take the head to head results there.

uh, I'm just not able to let this opportunity pass, since I'm not the one that brought the excuse train up this time I can't beat myself for perseverating. And let me just say it's always so fascinating to me how we can mostly consume the same product, but all see things in unique ways. In my experience it's been one excuse after another, with a small handful of mia culpa's mixed in. I'm always hopeful, but I gotta keep it real.

Ugly pattern developing with this team. Last 5 minutes with a lead and they fold. When they are down they fight back but for some reason cant play with the lead. JT was awful down the stretch including missing two free throws.

Need to figure this out quickly or come March they wont be playing anywhere.

Hey this is on me. I have to coach better. Not just our players have to play better.

With Belichick, like him or not, he always owns up to it after they lose.

Losing close games under pressure time after time after time, is all the blame on the players?

Yes they are the ones missing shots and FT's, and making mistakes.

But the coach has the ultimate responsibility to win. He's repeatedly putting his team in a bad spot, by making them play a style they aren't good at, in the last few minutes of games.

They have zero confidence. That's a reflection on the coach. The buck stops there.

And that's all I'm going to say about it for a while.

Odds are we beat Fordham and St Joe's at home, have another tough game at UMASS, probably lead for a good portion of the game, the slowly but surely lose the lead and the game the last 5 minutes.

Really hurt against GW to have Martin play only 21 minutes before fouling out.
Also Thompson played only 12 total minutes as he was saddled with 4 fouls.

Garrett, Terrell, McGlynn and Iverson all played 35-37 minutes each

DH and EC going to a P5 school as a package deal? Are you serious?

Again, with the disclaimer that I like DH and think/hope we are headed in the right direction, DH is in his sixth year of coaching a D1 team and has one NIT appearance to show for it (we'll be lucky to get an NIT bid this year). His overall coaching record currently stands at 94-79 (24-32 in the A10). (.543 and .429 winning percentages respectively.) As has already been stated, if his name wasn't Hurley would those numbers jump out at you if you were a P5 AD? Would you bring this coaching prospect in for an interview? Ask Minnesota how their "name" hire is working out or how the Ronny Thompson experiment at Ball State worked out. Yes, EC got hurt and it was a body blow to the program but good coaches adapt and rely on and develop other players as has been done at Dayton multiple times recently. Good coaches develop leaders too. I see no real leaders on this team with or without EC. Where have you gone TJ Buchanan (who I think is a born leader and whose presence on this team is desperately missed). I think TJ willed us to that NIT bid last year. He got in teammates faces and held them accountable. Maybe leadership potential is a trait DH should start focusing on during recruitment.

As for EC being an NBA draft pick? I've never bought in to that idea. Not yet anyway from what I've seen. NBA prospects dominate the A10 like Mark Macon, Eddie Jones, Aaron McKie, Marcus Camby, David West, Cat Mobley, Lamar Odom, Jameer Nelson and Andrew Nicholson all did. Haven't seen EC dominate the A10 on a consistent basis. He hasn't even made the postseason first team yet. Let's just hope he gets healthy and can at least get back to where he was before the ACL injury. After that happens, we'll see.

With the talent assembled next year, if we don't dance, I think we're in trouble as a program.

Someone said that Langevine might be as good as Bembry in time.

That would be really nice, if it happens. Might make a difference.

I'll take a record of 8-3 heading into a home game with Dayton on Friday 2/12. Hopefully we'll be in a position to get a nice home crowd for that game.
