I will eschew my usual disdain of these offers in Malik's case.....out of respect to Hassan...

Let's hope he grows another 7 inches in height, keeps his guard skills, loves coach Hurley, and that Hurley is still here....

Kid has a HM body, his body looks like it's more physically imposing than EC's as a guard. This kid would be a huge score!

I don't see any evidence of other offers yet.

Re: '18 NY G Malik Martin (Offer)
Easy mistake to make, but that was one of Hassan's older brothers (they favor each other the most of the brothers) not Malik. But yes most of the family was in attendance last night with the exception of his oldest brother and Malik.

Congrats, Malik!
Curtis' Malik Martin named Jaques Award winner

Some guy named Hassan apparently won this in 2013.

I wonder if Malik will follow Hassan to Rhody. He's been to Kingston quite a bit and obviously already knows the staff very well.

If he's a good shooter we can use him. Maybe he'll grow into a 3......we certainly need those.

He didn't take to twitter as the prodigy to avoid comparisons to Hass. He will be a Ram!

I'd be happy to have any of Hass' siblings at URI. He comes from a great family.Rhody83 wrote:He didn't take to twitter as the prodigy to avoid comparisons to Hass. He will be a Ram!

Re: '18 NY G Malik Martin (Offer)
I would say that if Malik Martin does come to URI, we let him be Malik and write his own history. No matter how good he might be, he's not going to be 2017 A10 tournament Hassan right out of the gate.

Right. And although he is Hassan's brother, they are very different players.steviep123 wrote:I would say that if Malik Martin does come to URI, we let him be Malik and write his own history. No matter how good he might be, he's not going to be 2017 A10 tournament Hassan right out of the gate.

Re: '18 NY G Malik Martin (Offer)
I don't really have a sense of what level Malik is best suited for. I imagine his AAU season (playing with the Rens) will be very important for his prospects. That being said, if he wants a coach that knows about handling comparisons to his brother, I know a guy. From watching the older Martins from the outside, they seem to have a nice balance of being competitive and supportive.

Ace why does it feel like a gut punch? He has the offer from Rhody. Rhody is an easy selection over Townson.ace wrote:I know it's true, but this tweet was still a gut punch.

It was the "former URI standout" part about Hassan that got me.Rhody83 wrote:Ace why does it feel like a gut punch? He has the offer from Rhody. Rhody is an easy selection over Townson.ace wrote:I know it's true, but this tweet was still a gut punch.

Re: '18 NY G Malik Martin (Offer)
Ace, I'm not sure if I understand why is it is a gut punch for Hass' brother to receive an offer from another team. He didn't sign with anyone yet, right? Or is the latter statement of Hass now being a former Ram the gut punch? Sorry if I am misunderstanding.ace wrote:I know it's true, but this tweet was still a gut punch.

A good program and only about 45 minutes from home for him.
