I hadn't heard of this event before this thread. Can anyone give more information or add a link to where I can find out more info? Is this a URI only event or is it for all schools in RI? Is it open to everyone? Who from URI will be in attendance?

I am pretty sure this event is by invitation only.

Yes, I think it's by invitation only to athletics donors. I received an email last week about it. It's at the waterfront Chelos.

I am not happy that I will miss this event tonight. Someone needs to corner ARD and get his opinion on Berry and whether or not we can expect him to contribute this season. Also, an update on Iverson's workouts and his attitude would be nice. JG's injury status etc.
I am expecting this board to explode with new info tomorrow............

Why? I doubt many of us are swells enough to get an invite to this event.

It was a great event tonight. Suberb job. Four different panels of players and coaches hosted by a very attractive emcee.

Some unsubstantiated rumors related to the schedule but other than that nothing earth shattering. ARD was a big hit with the crowd.

Read the previous "discussions" about "support and donations." Obviously, your money isn't good enough…..Tom98 wrote:I can't believe I didn't get an invite to this....i always donate a good amount...wtf

Oh stop complaining. Show me a top flight basketball program that doesn't have premium thank-you type events for its financial supporters. They live streamed the event so the information and entertainment portion would be available to all fans.
If we want this program to consistently compete for A10 championships and make runs in the NCAA tournament, we need to improve our position in donations in our conference.
What this shows is good news -- there were only so many seats in the upstairs room at Chello's Waterfront so there must be more supporters giving larger amounts of money now than compared to when Hurley arrived. The cut-off for invitations is therefore at a higher giving level than what many of us remember.

Re: RI Basketball Summer Chalk Talk - June 17
Those of us who donate in the three figure range aren't going to get an invite to these types of events.
If I had to guess, that eliminates most of us including myself.
If they included us, they would need a bigger building.....I have no problem with this, as ATP said the program needs to step it up when it comes to donations if they are going to play in the same ballpark as the big boys....

This was also for sponsors. So, that's less seats for the little guy. I think it's great to have an event like this for the big donors and the sponsors. I know I can't afford to support the program as I could have when I was younger. I'm glad there are people and businesses who can.

If you're referring to me, I'm not complaining. I gave my opinion about this last year, and I was just informing Tom98 of the discussions and the realities.ATPTourFan wrote:Oh stop complaining. Info about the scheduling and what it would cost was a joke -- and, yes -- if you wanted to watch the proceedings you could, which was definitely a move in the right direction for people like Adam914 or JohnnyJones in Woonsocket.
I hope that 50 multi-millionaires drop buckets-full of money at Dr. Dooley's doorstep for the good of the University and at Bjorn's office for all of the Athletic programs, non-varsity included.
And if only 10 people get invited -- separately -- by the powers that be for a private dinner, good for them. They earned it.
If Dan Hurley wants to invite ATPTourFan to his new house for a cookout, because he's heard what a great job he does helping to run KeaneyBlue, good for him.
He earned it.
So, no one's complaining.

Re: RI Basketball Summer Chalk Talk - June 17
I don't care about the swells getting their perks.
What I am bothered by is, there's no thank you event
for season ticket holders this year, as there has been in past years.
That was always a fun event.
