We played Vermont in 2003 .... beat 'em by about 30. Plus they were part of the old Yankee conference, when we played them twice a year.

Problem is, fewer and fewer of us even know what STC is!

I meant Albany. Can't remember when we last played them. We played Vermont in Dans first year and beat them.
Those teams would be our best bet from an rpi standpoint and competitionnnn Out of the America East.

The fact that former RIC Coach Bob Walsh is now the head coach at Maine probably has a lot to do with playing them. Rhody has also played Maine 100 times making the black bears URI's 6th most played opponent (behind Brown, Umass, UConn, PC, UNH).

I'd actually prefer they play at BU or Northeastern (I know, not AE teams). Or actually Harvard. Would give the Boston area alums a local game. I know there's a few of us on here.

Yes definitely a Top 5 team. With Carter, Stone and now Sulaimon they will have a lot of new faces to integrate. Really hope we draw them, and hopefully early season they will still be working out their chemistry and we can make it a game. Trimble is a handful at PG, and they will be very big.

Love it. It was great playing KU last year, it'll be great playing Md this year. Love seeing (at least) one top 10 team on the schedule.

Somehow, he got a waiver to play immediately after
leaving Illinois State.
Bobby was right. He's not that good.
Can't shoot, can't shoot free throws. Runs the team
pretty well, good assist to turnover ratio.

Our OOC schedule is very important this season.....to get nationally ranked/tournament bid we can't have many games like Maine on our schedule. I'm sure Dan realizes how important every game on our schedule really is. We have a real chance at a special season but our sos has to be there.

Little late to this, but I saw a few on one of the tables, they were just giving them away? If so I'll have to see if they have any left over, as a former SAA member I'm a big Shotgun guy.

Also I know for a while Shotgun was not allowed into games. It seems that ban has been lifted though.

As for the Cleveland St. game, in Gary Waters' 9 seasons there they have an average RPI of 125, and had an RPI of 145 last season. They bring back their top two scorers, 6'2 guard Trey Lewis and 6'8 forward Anton Grady. They had 3 common opponents with us last season. They lost at Iona to start the season 78-73. They lost at VCU 72-63. They then played Detroit 3 times, winning at home 70-66, losing at Detroit 66-65 and winning the conference tournament game 70-53.

Haha, that was the problem as it was told to me, Shotgun was flying around too much. I'm not sure if the athletic department/Ryan Center got too many complaints from people Shotgun was hitting or if they proactively banned him. That said, that was a few years ago that he was banned from games, and I've seen him since at games, so he has either been freed or people are smuggling him in.

A good OOC home game, anyway. Not a slam dunk win by any means....

Teams with RPI's in the low 100's, are the type of teams that will play us here.

Would like to see a couple more sub-100 RPI's though....and another top 50 too.

The game against Cleveland State (11/21) is part of the Cancun Challenge. Their other game at home as part of that tournament is against Rider on 11/29.

As mentioned before, they play TCU and then the winner of Maryland/Illinois State on 11/24 and 11/25.
