Re: URI Men's Basketball Year-End Ceremony
I hope it is. I have a zillion suits and need an excuse to wear one.
Why is RI the slobovian state? No sense of occasion at all.
People wear jeans to church on Easter,
and wearing a tie, God forbid, is a death sentence.
I've already paid for my admission.
Should be fun!

Will Dan Hurley's search for a big man --who can play-- yield results by then?

This would be, maybe, wedding attire?

People worry far too much about how other people dress or look. You want to wear a suit, wear a suit. You want to wear jeans and a t-shirt, wear jeans and a t-shirt.

Funny Ramulous mentions seating.
Since this is going to be a dinner, I wonder how they'll work it?
Like a wedding, I'd imagine.
I'll probably seek out Milan, if he's there.

We would already know anything he might be able to publicly announce. Just let Rod do his thing and get the scoop from Dan himself.

Stole by line South! On a personal note I'm retiring from teaching this year after 40 years. I never went to events like this because of distance and working. Starting next year, I will definitely be joining "the round table". Have fun!!!

Neil, I'll be doing the same thing, although a year later.
2 years to retirement. Part of me can't wait, the other part isn't thrilled about getting older.
Can't have it both ways, unless you have loads of money. Oh well.

Congrats, Neil! 40 years! Amazing in this day and age.
Funny, I was thinking the other day, that you must be our most dedicated
fan, because you're always there, and you aren't exactly
down the street from Kingston.

Wonder if that guy that was so disruptive at the last function will show up. If so, Taylor Swift will have to play bouncer again.

Re: URI Men's Basketball Year-End Ceremony
That was an enjoyable evening! Got to see many people, 105, RhodyJay, Rod, Ramulous, ATP and TP and many who listen but don't post. Spoke with Coach Carr for awhile. Really nice guy. Got a surprise visit from the Godfather, whom I'd never met before. Fascinating stories and we went through the years about certain events. I could probably talk with him for hours on end about Rhody hoops. He really has so much history and knowledge. I tip my hat to him. Ran into Dan going for dinner. I apologized to him for calling that ref at the Iona game an ahole. He laughed and said he needs to take up yoga to keep calm during games. Said he just gets worked up sometimes. Also said the Stanford game was tough for him as well. Should be a busy weekend coming up on campus.......

I really didn't get much info on the details. But we should have some visitors this weekend. Don't know if they are 15 or 16. Or who they might be, so sorry for being vague. Maybe someone else gathered more intel?

Re: URI Men's Basketball Year-End Ceremony
OK, the real news of the night is, I walked out of Quidnessett with
all the A-10 Awards.
They were left behind and the staff didn't know what to do with them.
I said I'd be seeing everyone Saturday, so I now have them.
Great night! Wonderful crowd. Good food.
Talked to Thorr, Daryl Jasper, Andrea Hurley, Carl Koussa, and of course, Dan.
Nice showing by KeaneyBlue.com, Matt, Milan, Blueram,TP,Rhody 74,
among others.
Talked to Denny McGovern, my first favorite Ram.
The Godfather, the encyclopedia of URI history, always great to
listen to.
Anyway, I got one on one with Dan, who told me I made him look bad,
and I dressed like Tom Pecora.
So, "What about a big man?" He kind of shrugged and said, "Well, it's going to be
a busy May."
I asked about Gibbs from Seton Hall. He said Gibbs will be very much in demand.
So, as he was leaving, Dan yelled over to me,"It's going to be a busy May, and
you know I always get what I want. And you look like Tom Pecora."
So, it was a crazy night, for sure.
