Hare We Go Again!
Well, this has been out there for a few weeks and seems to have legs,
having heard this from several sources.
It seems that there's an effort by some to get Jordan Hare reinstated.
These people believe Dan acted too quickly back in November.
Hare has to make a decision very soon, or risk being away from basketball for
another full year, if he waits past the spring semester.
It's obvious that nobody is breaking down his door to transfer to their school.
Supposedly a meeting will happen tomorrow, and a decision will be made
to reinstate him or not.
It was said to be a long shot, but seems as though it could happen.
Personally, I think Dan's integrity takes a hit, if he takes Hare back
for a second time. Not to mention the major rust on an already flawed player.
The soap opera continues.....

I'm actually thankful it's this and not something else...I saw your post on the other thread and was worried Thorr was being courted by another program or something of that nature (transfer, etc.).

I guess the good news is Hare must have fulfilled his academic requirements for the fall or I would I assume this wouldn't even be happening.

Re: Here We Go Again!
They never really said much publicly. Could just spin it as they suspended him from the program for a semester. I have mixed feelings here, since I was ready to be done with Hare after he left the team in the fall, but on the other hand I like him more than many here as a player and think he could really help us.

I thought this would get a wild response. Maybe people are
tired of the ups and downs, and ins and outs, of Mr. Jordan Hare.

Re: Here We Go Again! (Hare, Part 873)
It's not a scoop. It's been around for weeks, but nobody wants
to bring up the subject, because it's too much like
breaking up with someone, having them come back, then repeating the cycle.
There's a weariness and a wariness on the subject.
If true, it brings up many more questions than answers.
Since it's close to make or break time, and appears not
to be any kind of secret, I thought I'd float it out there.

Whoa away from the board for a day and Jordan Hare has a new thread. By ROD!! Who is JH second biggest enemy, because he of course is his own worst enemy!!
This is just crazy.

Re: Here We Go Again! (Hare, Part 873)
Very interesting. I've given up optimism on the subject, but given the state of our frontcourt depth, I don't think there's any way his return could be viewed as a negative. Even if he's "bad in the locker room" I have enough confidence in DH and the other players on the team to be strong enough to not let his potential poor attitude hinder them.

Re: Here We Go Again! (Hare, Part 873)
I don't know. Billy Baron started second semester late, but he
was a good student.
If Hare's going to transfer, he has to do it soon. Clock is ticking.
Obviously, it's easier for him to stay here.
Has anyone seen him at any of our RC games this year?
What I heard recently was, not for this year, if he's reinstated.
So, he'd have been away since August, 2013, except for this fall's practice.
Like I said, more questions than answers, if this comes to pass.
I don't consider myself an "enemy" of Hare. I just say what I see, or what I think I see.
If he ever plays, here or anywhere else, we will see if he's what some think,
or not.

I liked Jordan and thought he was going to be an asset for this team, and could not blame him for the first time he left us. Leaving the second time changed my opinion of him, especially the timing. But saying all that, I would like to know the details of that situation before I would reverse my opinion again.

It would also tie up a scholarship.
Not sure what it says about staff's recruitment of big men?
Maybe they feel he's better than whoever they're looking at?
Again, more questions here than answers.
Besides, it's all speculation, based on rumors.

Re: Here We Go Again! (Hare, Part 873)
I am very mixed on this. I was all for, and very excited about, his return this year and was more on the side of thinking he would be an X factor for this team by about this time of the year. But him leaving for the second time was kind of the last straw for me in my own opinion of him being a part of this team.
I'd love for him to have his shit together and come back and be a big part of this team, but skeptical would be an understatement for how I feel about the whole thing.

Both Hare and Powell are listed in the URI student directory, although that might not mean much. I look forward to the day that all students on basketball scholarship are on the basketball team.
I've heard whispers about Hare coming back, too, although I hadn't heard about the meeting. There's plenty of time for him to be enrolled in second semester.

Where's Ramster?
He loves Hare. Probably doesn't want to get his hopes up!
The other question: If Hare was rumored to come back weeks ago, couldn't he have come back right after exams ended in December?

Re: Hare We Go Again!
Honestly, I'm torn on this topic. But Hare being on the team is probably in his best interest, and if he's going to commit (which is a HUGE assumption at this point) than the team is better off with him on it.
Hope he gets his act together for his sake and for ours. No reason to believe that from what's happened in the past though.

Re: Here We Go Again!
I think it has to be viewed has in this manner. They have to be having problems getting some bigs and EC and Hassan are going to be Juniors. I like Jordan Hare as a player and thought he had potential to be a solid player if not very good. But is also not like he is Jahlil Okafor either. He's a kid, had problems, was given a chance and blew that too. If he were to come back, what's to stop him from taking off again before the season or after the first semester. And it eats up scholarship.rodfromcranston wrote:If it happens, is it an admission that they're not doing well

It would seem to be the case.
Heard the Mike Martin (coach of Brown) show last night. They were talking about Rafael Maia is going to do the 5th year post grad thing next year. Martin also mentioned a guy Shonn Miller from Columbia, leading the Ivy in scoring and rebounding going to do the same thing and that he knew for a fact UConn was interested. I think I'd rather explore that route for a big for immediate impact if they are having difficulty recruiting h.s. kids. If there is indeed anyone out there.

Re: Hare We Go Again!
You've got to think Dan and the staff are looking into post grads, along with all other types.
Like Gio said, we desperately need help NEXT season. Getting a 4 year big is great, but we're not likely to get one that is ready to help us a lot next season.
And as he said, Hassan is going to be a junior. Time, hard as it is to believe, is running out on Martin's chances to Dance in his URI career.
Hare might not be great. But he might be good enough to get us over the hump. Not this year, but maybe next.
Of course, that's assuming a LOT with his past history.

Re: Hare We Go Again!
Don't really care if he comes back. I felt his absence has led to an over-inflation in his stock anyways. If he comes back sure, if not than whatever.
Regardless, I'll believe it when he's actually suited up and out on the court. That said, I do love a juicy rumor!!
I do agree with what others have said that if Hare does return this appears to be an indictment on the staffs inability to land a big during this recruiting cycle. Again though I trust Hurley's judgment and eye for talent.

Totally agree. After every loss you're prone to thinking "Would that game have been different if we had Hare?" If you convince yourself that the answer is "yes", it totally inflates his stock. It's normal fan behavior.STC wrote:I felt his absence has led to an over-inflation in his stock anyways.

Re: Hare We Go Again!
I'm not sure about that. Maybe I am alone on this, but I have never once thought after any loss in the last two years "what if we had Jordan Hare?" I don't really get that kind of thinking; you have who you have. But that doesn't mean the guy couldn't help you. If anything, I thought he was undervalued last summer when it seemed that the fan base was very down on him even though I thought he brought a pretty unique skill set to the team. Not sure his value has gone up since then when all that happened in between is he left the program. Pretty sure his value is at an all-time low, actually.SmartyBarrett wrote:Totally agree. Well, not everyone, sure. But I've thought it a few times in the past two years, especially after a loss where URI got killed inside. And others on this board have openly questioned it after games... mostly last year.TruePoint wrote:I'm not sure about that. Re: Hare We Go Again!
Seems like he doesn't have very many options. If he did he would've transferred by now. I trust the staff to make the right decision and I'm sure the players will have input too.
If I were on the team now I'd say no way in hell I want him back on the team, I've seen what distractions can do to team chemistry (Daniel West, Tayshawn Mabry, PJ Lockridge...yikes what a disaster of a year) and it's not worth the hassle no matter how great the talent.

It's obvious he would have to accept his role, and whatever minutes he gets, without complaining or pouting or whatever.
His leash will be a lot shorter than most, and that's his fault.
Seems like a lot to ask.
If the team isn't on board with this, it isn't happening.

Re: Hare We Go Again!
I don't know how to feel about this. I initially was under the impression that he quit before this season. Now, I'm wondering if his leaving was his choice or Dan's.
I've never been a big believer in Hare. I see some talent, but, I also see a lot of inconsistency in his game. People were saying before this year that he has re-committed to the game was looking pretty good. I don't know anything about that.
If I had a choice, though, I would definitely want a freshman that has been playing regularly. Two years away from the game is a long time.
If he returns because the staff can't get another big, then we have another problem.
I guess tomorrow I'll have to watch the "View" (how can anyone watch that shit) to see what the hags think. lol.
