Running Ram - I'll play. Hopefully we can get at least 10 guys. Assuming we get a league started up, this can be the thread for the league.

Re: Keaney Blue Fantasy Football League!!!
oh yeah, free is for me...
Sorry Andrew, I think Yahoo it is, I hope you will reconsider.
Yahoo is the site I'm most familiar with, if someone wants to pioneer one on a different site I wouldn't mind not doing all the set up work.
The one thing I'm not sure of is how to have others join without having to do email invites, but I'll figure that out forthwith.
once we're set up everyone can consider the scoring and rules, then put anything they want to a vote and we can rule by democracy.

I'm all registered. Once we hit the critical mass of teams (I'd say 10; we are at 6 now) we can vote on settings here. Ideally, I'd love to do an auction/keeper league with you guys since I can't get my regular league to adopt either format. Anyone else interested in something like that?

I mean we don't all "know" each other but there is enough of a community here that we can round everyone up again next year. I'd be down to make it an annual thing if everything works out.
I agree on a nighttime draft. And I do hope we can do an auction, but be prepared to spend a bit of time on it if we do. Doesn't go as fast as a regular snake draft.

Why? Every website that has fantasy football runs auction leagues. Every team gets a $200 budget. Even in leagues with buy ins, your roster budget and your buy in are totally separate. Everyone gets the same budget.

I like the idea of keepers, not a fan of auctions, but I'll do whatever and still come out on top baby!!!
also, not sure why we would vote here instead of on the yahoo site, it's a very easy process to run a vote on the league page once the teams are locked in.
there will probably be lots to sort out once we lock in, such as ppr, bonuses for yardage, roster make-up...

Re: Keaney Blue Fantasy Football League!!!
I'm down for whatever everyone votes for, but I don't get why people are so resistant to auctions. I get the same pushback from my regular league. I know its a little different, but here's the thing: it seems much better to me. In a traditional snake draft, your draft position dictates your team to some extent. For instance, in my league I have the tenth pick, so not only am I locked in to a certain set of players in the first round, but all throughout the draft certain players will just fall between where I pick.
Take Michael Floyd for example. I really like Floyd this year, but to take him at the top of the 4th round would be a little bit of a reach. And he's going late 4th/early fifth, so he's gone by the time my pick comes up again. So I'll never get to own him. In an auction, everyone has access to the same players and everyone gets to decide how they value each player. I like everyone having access to the whole player pool.
Anyways, that is my pitch for an auction. I hope people will at least consider it. As far as discussing options here, I'm just much more used to checking in and reading through posts here than on the league homepage. But again, I'm cool with whatever.

If y'all really need a 10th, I'm willing to join, but I'm already in 2.5 other leagues. (I co-own a team with a buddy; I do most of the draft work, he does most of the week to week stuff.) So put me down as a maybe for this one.

Yeah baby two more teams and we're golden! actually we could lock it now at 10, but I've found 10 team leagues to be somewhat of a league full of teams full off all pros. I'm hoping for two more but if y'all want to cap at 10 let me know...

I am out of town (in Philly actually) next weekend also. Night time during week works better for me too. Looks like we're stuck on 10 teams. My son would probably join up if we needed a 12th. But he's not a forum member.

Re: Keaney Blue Fantasy Football League!!!
UCH, tell your son that the forum is free to join and then there's no issue
Seriously though I wouldn't have any problem with "extended" forum family members joining up, I feel like 12 teams play better than 10, but most important is everyone play to the end, even after its clear my team is running away in a most dominate way!
Any night should be fine for me except thursday and friday nights. I have a draft at 5:30 on the 31st so, that night I'd need to draft around 8:00 I'd guess. It sounds like ATP will be out of town next week until UCH leaves to go out of town for the weekend, does monday night (labor day) work?
Either way we need to lock it up soon so we can decide on rules, scoring, draft type, etc. so if anyone has any ideas about others who might join get the word out.

Yes Monday night (labor day) is fine by me. I'll talk to my kid (he is a URI grad so that counts for something!). He does work evenings so I got to figure out his schedule too, but I'll have him standing by.

I might have another draft on Labor Day, which if that's the case, I'd have to pre-rank everyone. So if that's the case, it might be better if we have a last minute volunteer for this, haha.Running Ram wrote:so far so good, 4 y's and 0 n's for labor day night.

Re: Keaney Blue Fantasy Football League!!!
gr89 when is a good time/date for you? if it works for erbody else including SG that might be the answer.
Haha SG, stand by, you may not be off the hook yet...
also when everybody gets a chance, take a look at the rules and scoring and lets start hashing that stuff out.
Currently the teams are set to have a flex (TE,WR,RB), 1QB, 2RB, 3WR, 1TE, 1D/ST, 1K, 10 starting spots, so the draft goes for 16 rounds instead of 15.
How does everyone feel about bonuses and points per reception? as of now we would get 0.5 ppr, QB's get bonuses for 300, 400 passing yards, and there are bonuses for 100, 150 and 200 yards receiving and rushing. And I'm pretty sure 0.25 per completed pass.

That scoring is crazy... I don't like bonuses at all, nor .25 point per completion - that's absurd. Indifferent about .5 ppr - either way is fine.

I agree with Andrew. Simple scoring is better. Although I do like .5 PPR.

Re: Keaney Blue Fantasy Football League!!!
I vote strongly against this. Normal settings are the best. No need to overthink it. If you guys wanted to do a non-traditional format like a 2QB league or a dynasty or keeper league, I'd be down for that. I also think we should consider an auction because once you try it that way I think you'll agree that it's just a better way to pick your team. But having said that, I HATE the idea of allowing QB flexes and I don't get why you'd have two flex spots. How is that better? If you want to have 3 WR and a flex that is as funky as I'd like to get.packer12 wrote:make the flex have a qb option,or eliminate one of the wrs and have 2 flex
I'm cool with PPR or no PPR, and think .5 PPR is a good compromise. I also don't like bonus categories like extra points for long scoring plays and stuff. You already get rewarded for those plays by getting points for the yardage and the score.

Re: Keaney Blue Fantasy Football League!!!
okay I'll wait until we get closer to the draft so anyone else that wants to can express preferences, but I think I agree mostly with the current sentiments, I'm not a fan of QB flex because in my limited capacity to put thoughts together, I can't understand how that works considering QB's scoring is completely different and more significant than the other position players. I've never actually played with bonuses, so I'm kind of indifferent to them and the 1/2 pt for ppr is something I figured as a compromise, I'm not such a fan of ppr but some folks I know like it so I thought 1/2 pt was a good place to start the debate.
I know you really want to go for the auction TP, but as a final thought on the con side; it looks like its going to be tough to get everyone together on a draft time/date and some may be forced to auto draft, although I really hope this is not the case.

Re: Keaney Blue Fantasy Football League!!!
I would think for most people this KB league is a throw-in just for fun. Let's. Not try to overcomplicate things and aim for relatively close to standard settings. I'm not going to be investing more time or effort into this league than absolutely necessary. Also, consider that those with families and other situations cannot always be present for a live draft.
I don't mind bonuses. I prefer scoring where each yard or reception equates to points, rather than scoring based on yard/catch intervals.
