I like how he credits Dan and the team for staying in touch and encouraging him. If he truly bailed on the team, as some have alleged, they would have ignored him.

Good to have Jordan back! Would love to hear the old NBA Jam phrase "boom-shakka lakka" be used once….just once after he throws a dunk down next year. I think I would die laughing. Our announcer should take some pointers from that game…haha…joking.
(Side Note: Posted pictures of my work under The Rams Den, Down The Line thread. Sincere thanks to people for their compliments and encouragement!)

Jordan seems to be really focused and mentally ready. We have three jumping jacks in Hare, Hassan and Watson. I can't wait for the "BLOCK" Party.

Loved reading this interview. Encouraging all around, from the way that his absence was handled by the coaching staff and team, to hearing how determined he is to be back and be the best that he can be.

Think he ever read this board while he was away?? "The past couple of seasons we’ve always had a team with great talent but not everybody could suit up [for various reasons]. I don’t want to be another one of those players that makes people say ‘“Well, if Jordan Hare was playing, this and this would happen…”’

So he doesn't think that was a question asked last season?

I took it to mean that he was aware of the question being asked last year, and didn't want it to happen again.

Agree with you 100% sf. As usual Rod kind of puts a negative spin on most everything.

I certainly can spin it :-) direct quotes can always be spun, and words are tricky sometimes. Often it is better to take the spirit of what someone is saying rather than the exact words. I think that Jordan meant, 'I don't want to be remembered for being the guy that made people think, what if?' In his statement he included himself among other teammates who were unable to suit up for one reason or another. He is well aware of the fact that he did not play last year, and that people wondered what could have been if he had played.

I don't care what the spin is as long as his actions match his words. It does sound like he's grown up a lot, and as long as he's comfortable with his daughter's situation, I'm optimistic we'll see a new and improved Hare.

He could be a HUGE addition to next year's team, good luck Jordan!! Notice I said "could", before those with doubts come a calling. Still has to get into game shape, hopefully with some added muscle and then shake off a ton of rust.

I don't get this vague antipathy aimed at this kid. A lot of students take a year off for personal reasons. We're not his employer. I'm glad he is back.

Everybody knows he could make a huge difference, that's why some lamented on 'what if'. I'm not so convinced people were that negative about Hare's absence, some just wanted to think 'what if' and others just wanted to concentrate on the players available. Jordan pretty much acknowledged the things many were concerned about, with the support of DiSano's good reporting. It show's Hare to be thoughtful and empathetic towards people's perceived (right or wrong) reservations. These are the words that precede what I thought of as the best possible scenario for Jordan's return. I don't think anyone ever questioned his abilities, with a real basketball rededication Hare's return could have as much impact as any recruit. I'm looking forward to a team with a full complement of good front court players.

I still say get him up to Hope Dining Hall, eat 5 or 6 of those burgers, then head straight to the weight room. I should be a trainer.

Great news that Hare has shown up on campus. Best of luck to him going through the summer sessions, gotta do that work in the classroom to be able to do work on the court this fall!

Anybody know about the summer plans of any of our other athletes? Most doing summer sessions, or are they at home?

They are there for both summer sessions which go through end of July. Garrett and Terrell won't be on campus until the second summer session. Everyone goes home for the month of August

What are the rules regarding summer workouts? How often, how many players at a time, etc?

Who is #44? I thought it might be Watson, but the roster on GoRhody.com says his number is 33. Iffy's is 14. Whoever it is looks like he's hit the weights.

If Iffy ends up with Maravich's usage rate this year, something will have gone horribly wrong.

Happy to have Hare back. The kid was a top 100 recruit with I think offers from Michigan and Michigan ST. Being on the slender side the strength of the kids he went up against his frosh year made it an adjustment year for him. I think Hare is now capable of big things at URI.

He look tall because he is. That is the difference between 6-7 an 6-10. We had no one on the roster above 6-8 last year an I don't know how many of those 6-8s were legit. Honestly as much as I am pumped for the recruiting class I can't believe there is not another big body at the end of the bench for the last scholly.

Nice when a 6'10" guy can win an agility drill. It looks like he's putting the work in. Keep that up and we could have a very good player here.

ECR, I think that is still TBD. Whether he can play right away or if he has to sit first semester, I believe if he does the first game he would be eligible is for PC.

Can't see why a full season red shirt would force him to not play a semester...assuming he gets his academics in order, which I would have to believe will be all set.

It's the academic, not anything else that may keep him
out of the first semester.
Why would academics be "all set"? He missed a lot of time,
and I doubt he took a full course load online.

Credits from the Summer classes he is taking now will count for the required number of credits needed. They will count if he is short any from last year.

I was figuring a combination of on-line and summer courses - that and Dan's classroom expectations.

I would expect with a hardship waiver (which they really are giving out like candy these days) he wouldn't be penalized for the year he missed while he was attending to family matters. With his coursework up to date from the time he left, I'd think he'd be on track.
