Looking at that LinkedIn for Marshall, it seems that jobs might be a bit fluid in this profession. Think of how much turnover there is for stuff like assistant coaches, and then realize this is a couple rungs lower on the ladder. However, that would just be a complete guess on my part.

I could be wrong, but I think there is a principle of physics that's says if you deadlift over 500lbs things start bouncing off of you, which could be helpful.

Nice piece from Chris DiSano on Marshall. He has a really interesting background, both as an athlete (walk-on to conference champion) and professionally. I like the way he articulates his approach to doing his job. By all accounts, this is a great hire.

Daaamn right:
Daniel Marshall wrote:“For any strength coach you have to look at whether you had guys miss time due to injury and, if so, was that an injury that something in your training could have been able to decrease the risk of that injury happening,” Marshall said. “There are always going to be injuries you can’t prevent, but a season with minimal time missed due to injuries is a success, along with reaching our goals of winning an Atlantic 10 Championship and making an NCAA Tournament.”

KB: I thought the strength coach under Baron was good -- noticeable changes in player's bodies between seasons. Your thoughts?

Kevin Stacom felt the reason Richmond lost his shooting touch was because he got too jacked up by Baron's S&C coach at the time.

The first guy I remember hearing that about was Thunder Dan Majerle.

Does bring up a good point, though, which is that there is a difference between getting in basketball shape and getting ripped. I think a trainer with Marshall's background will understand and appreciate the difference.

In today's game; having a coach that understands what type of muscle building benefits what type of player is invaluable. URI has a good one in this guy.
