Coach K was right. The ACC didn't get the right number of teams in...Duke shouldn't have gone. What a great win. I'm sure Skip Bay-less saw another mediocre game here.
If Jay Bilas had his way, this type of game wouldn't have occurred. Only BCS teams would be in. Puke.
Now, if UMass. can win, they can avoid Duke. Of course, Mercer could beat them, too.

UMass getting absolutely embarassed right now. No wonder they were 6 point dogs today. Could've seen this coming based on the 3 games against them we SHOULD have won. Nowhere near as strong as Tennessee.

Derek Kellogg subscribes to the Jim Baron school of recruiting, recruits athletes with the worst basketball IQ on the planet. You cant win in March without disciplined offense.

Baron ball will never sustain long-term. We saw it for a decade. Good defensive teams will make you look like you play in D3 in March. Both of the 16 seeds put up better fights than UMass today. Just embarassing.

It's been a while since we've danced, but when exactly did they put in the rule allowing for tv timeouts after every dead ball?
The games are absolutely interminably long.
Every time I switch to a different game, it's in commercial also.

Wasn't a foul Law, but he put himself in a position for that to be called. In March, that's all that matters. Go straight up, or lightly contest with a 4 point lead.

Still, that is so unlike Shaka's teams. He must be LIVID.

Couldn't even imagine if that were us, and we were to lose.

Horrible loss for VCU. SFA was down 10 points with 3.5 minutes to go.
I still say I foul and don't let any team ever shoot a 3 ball when up by 3 and if up by 4 I still foul. I have been saying that for years. Charles Barkley and Derrick Kellogg also said a lot of coaches still do not get that strategy. They would both always foul and not allow the 3 point shot. Up 4 even more so. But to foul on a 3 pointer, well VCU deserves what they got.
Disaster for the A10 today going 0-3.

you cant turn on and off Havoc, the kid closed hard on a three point shot and didn't touch the guy. that was a phantom call.

If you are going to give the three then he should not have closed out. That said - zero contact, then in OT VCU guy is hacked going to the hoop no call.

In general today the refs seem to be calling every touch foul which does not play well with the teams in our league. Much like te old big east I think the A10 plays a physical brand of basketball except more on the perimeter and the fouls catch up

Just foul the guy send him to the line for two shots and game is over. Don't even let the guy shoot the 3. Stupidest play I have seen all year, maybe the whole century.

The same player (Lewis) had a chance to win it with a wide open 3 in the corner. Complain about the call all you want, didn't seal the game whatsoever. Shouldn't have put himself in that position with a 4 point lead, plain and simple. All that matters in March is surviving and advancing. VCU blew a 10 point lead with 3 minutes left. Shouldn't have even come down to that if they finished strong. Didn't deserve to win plain and simple.

Or just don't foul. I've also seen the missed free throws pointed to. That stuff happens. It's bad, but it happens. The only thing that could have saved SFA was a foul on a three. Don't even contest that shot. Do nothing and the game is over. Committing a foul in that situation is unconscionable.

Agree with everyones comments on how great and interesting this tourney.

Highlight for me was the Ok State game. Totally enjoyed it.

and of course, Gonzaga. maybe short on the athletic monsters, but sure know how to play the game.

Is it a rule that you can't turn Havoc on and off? Of course you can in that situation. Shaka is at least as guilty at Lewis on this high school play.

Michigan has given up only 28 points to Texas in the first half, and with 2 seconds left in the half just committed their 2nd FOUL!! 2 fouls in a half.

Beilein is a whale of a coach. Especially in March.

And McRam, all the kid did was close out on a 3 pointer versus just watching him shoot it. He didn't touch him. I am not sure how you coach that differently. It was a phantom call, all replays showed there was zero contact. Blame the ref not Shaka.

Really late to respond on this one, but I saw on another site that apparently someone dunked and touched the rim before the game, which is a no-no.
