In the A10 game tonight, St. Joes destroyed the fraudulent Flyers by 25.

In the BE game tonight, X wins a big one on the road against the jokers from St. Johns, by 12.

Things are shaking out.

Things were looking up for Dayton, but unless they win out, and then do damage in the A10 tourney, they're done. Toasty.

We manhandled Dayton at home. We do not manhandle NCAA teams this year, so they were out to me the minute their game with us ended. Even on the road we should have beat them. Was never impressed. Also do not think St Joes is an NCAA team. On the eye test I only put SLU, VCU, Umass and GW in the dance. SJU, Dayton and Richmond in the NIT. Still a very solid outcome for the conference.

Looks like Dayton and Richmond are about to fall off the bubble.

Looks more and more like the A10 will get 5 in.

Richmond didn't help themselves at all after losing to GMU tonight.

If we play like we did tonight on Saturday, we will add to their misery and finish them off, most likely.

ANOTHER very winnable game on tap.

The Tournament itself will be a huge determining factor as it always is
If Dayton or Richmond or St Joseph's can reach the Championship game it makes a big difference,
If UMASS or GW lost their first round game this can be a bi blow to their chances
We will know in a by March 16 - losts of important games still to be played - the most critical games - which will make Lunardi's bracket change like it does every year

there is always the auto bid for the 6th team, unless something drastic happens *knocks on wood* the A10 should get at least 5 bids

What the hell? Duquesne takes down St. Louis, at St. Louis.

We'd better win the last two, or we are in the PIG.

Couldnt believe that one. Turned it on when i saw the score with about 6 minutes left. Fully expected St. Louis to find a way to win it still at home, but never happened.

I watched most of that game - Duquesne shot the ball really well from 3. They have a few really good shooters so it is not surprising.

Also, St. Louis is not a great offensive team. They are beatable, just have not been beaten yet in conference for some reason.

Duquense now has four wins. URI and GMU are at three wins (Rhody has the tiebreaker with them), and Fordham has two wins. URI probably needs one more win to avoid the PIG.

I'd be interested to know if we have the longest active streak in the A10 for not beating a top-25 team. Maybe I'll research this tonight....unless someone else wants to do it for me :)

Wagner beat Robert Morris yesterday on senior day in Staten Island, and they enter the NEC tournament as the #2 seed. The seniors were Hurley's first recruiting class as a head coach- Kenny Ortiz, Latif Rivers, Orlando Parker, and Naofall Folahan. They're a great group of guys who set the school record for wins by a class. They have a real chance to make it to the tournament, hoping Mason can get them there.

Dwaun Anderson. Yes and no. He's almost always the most athletic guy on the court, but his performances have been inconsistent. In the few games I've seen, he'll put together a stretch of minutes that are phenomenal and then not be able to hit anything other than dunks. You wonder if he'd be different under another coach, but that may not be fair to Mason. Anderson will have all the opportunity in the world next year to make the team his. The recruiting classes since Hurley left have not been good. Harris was a nice transfer pick-up, but he ended up suspended for the last part of the season. That seemed to be a school violation, but that team seems to have more single and multi-game suspensions for "conduct detrimental to the team" that any other team I know of. I don't know if that's a young coach trying to establish a culture or what exactly is going on. The team is playing well right now, and they're as much fun to watch as anybody when they're clicking.

I think what we want is to beat Fordham, and have Duquesne lose out so we end up as the 10 seed. This likely gives us another game against free falling Richmond and a potential match up after that with St. Joe's (a team we should have beaten twice)

I wouldn't say should 96, I would say could have. If St Joe's could somehow pass SLU that could give URI a Richmond then SLU matchup and we always play SLU tough.

Just don't want to face VCU, until the final at least.

I know that's a longshot [us making the final] but if it happened, maybe Shaka would go easy on us, and let another A10 team into the Dance.

Would much rather play St Joe's for a 3rd time, versus SLU. Both play tough defense, and neither scare me offensively, but beating a team 3 times in 1 season is difficult especially given we could have beaten them in either of the 2 previous games.

What's going on with Syracuse? They are falling apart, lost again at home. Weird.

Georgetown beats Creighton to stay alive on the bubble. They refuse to go away. PC had better win tonight, or they are in trouble.

I think X is in trouble too. St. Johns is no lock either. The NBE may only get 3 in. 4 at the most.

Cotton is a special player, they are in a world of hurt without him. A great PG keeps average teams in a lot of games. The warts will come off next year, Dunn or no Dunn, they will be young and inexperienced with limited ball handlers.

That said that was a great win, they deserve to be in IMO above Marquette or Gtown for sure, and slight edge over SJU. Great coaching job by Cooley, they easily could have lost tonight and a few others this year. If he could ever get his recruits on the court.

Marquette had the lead and the ball and twice in late situations, travelled.
Then the turnover at 8 seconds, when all they had to do was get the ball
up the floor against a team that played 50 minutes with mostly 6 players.
I'll bet Curley Howard didn't get much sleep last night.

Well based on his teams performance after his suspension id say Marcus Smart is more valuable to Ok St then Cotton to PC. MCdemorrot to Creighton prob as well.

Cotton leads the country in minutes. Amazing player.
McDermott against Georgetown, faced a team determined to stop him.
They rotated three guys on him all night.
While he didn't have his best game, he managed 22 points and 12 rebounds.
PC-Creighton should be interesting.

Cotton is averaging 40.2 minutes per game. Highest average since the 90s -- Vonteego Cummings from Pitt, 97-98, 40.1 minutes per game. Amazing, plays 50 minutes, steps to the foul line, and nails 2 FT's in the closing seconds after forcing the jump ball on defense. What fatigue?

Like was said, they are going to miss him big time next year.

How he doesn't get into foul trouble, EVER, is amazing.

Bet if he played in the A10, he would. Our refs suck, for the most part.

PC plays with 5 guys, 6 at most. It's like the BE refs know this, and don't want to take certain players out of the game.

I know you can play aggressive defense without fouling, but EVER?

PC mixes between zone and man depending on opponent and situation. Last night they played mostly zone, but typically they are a man team with zone sprinkled in.

Over the past 3 years, he has played in 94 games and averaged 38.8 minutes.

His foul distribution:

5 Fouls - 0
4 Fouls - 3
3 Fouls - 9
2 Fouls - 26
1 Foul - 37
0 Fouls - 19

Cooley can really coach. with 20 seconds or so left in double OT, Cotton was bringing the ball up, down 3, and had 2 Marquette guys all over him, with Fortune out of the game, Cotton had nowhere to go. So Cooley calls time out, doesn't panic, and sets up the play to Henton for 2. Then they get the pressure, and the tie up, and next thing you know they won. Excellent job.

South Carolina coach Frank Martin suspended for a game for "inappropriate verbal communication." At first, I though that mean illegally communicating with a recruit. Turns out, he was recorded yelling, "answer the f*****g question, a*****e!" to one of his players during an in-game huddle. Very Martin-like.
