Last home game. Last chance to have 19's in attendance for a game probably before they make their decision early in the Fall.
Is this an open recruiting/contact period? Can URI have 19's at the game tomorrow? It will be an unbelievable atmosphere to have a recruit in attendance.

I know its probably a broad time period, but when do most recruits begin to commit?

Most recruits now make their commitment shortly after their official visits in the Sept & Oct timeframe
For URI commits last year that was:
Tate - Aug 12th (he never had an official visit which is unusual)
Martin - Sept 13th (official visit Sept 8th)
Harris - Oct 6th (official visit Sept 22nd then visited Xavier Sept 29th)
Adams - Oct 8th (official visit Oct 3rd)
Silverio - Apr 19th (official visit Apr 18th)

The early signing period (NLOI) is Nov 14-21 this year.

The fact we’re recruiting some of the same guys as Villanova is a good sign, regardless of what think of the individual player.

Yeah if the best program in college basketball right now is looking at the same players as we are that's nothing but encouraging to me.
We must be looking at the right guys.

Espn updated their top 100 and both Bishop and McLeod fell out of it and Walker did not move in. However their overall rankings stayed at 81 for Bishop and McLeod fell from an 84 down to an 80. Walker is now a 79.

ESPNs ranking are largely considered the most uninformed and erroneous fwiw

Walker and McLeod’s ratings from ESPN (not in top 100) are fairly consistent with other sites, though.

Bishops’s exclusion seems off, as he’s somewhere between 78 and 99 for other sites.

Need to add the Diawara visit in September as well. Does anybody have an exact date for that besides just September as reported?

Wonder how the Xavier coach totally flipped this recruitment around, even other schools coaches were saying URI was clearly in the lead. Time to move on.

Well they play in the Big East and have been a top National program for the last 10-20 years which is a lot more than we can say so that's what the X coach can sell him on

It used to be all guards now it's gonna be no guards, We better get out and win this year or our Mojo might shrivel and needless to say we will need a facilitator in the 2020 class. I know that sounds a bit pessimistic, but in truth I feel that we will get out and win win win this year and remain an attractive destination for high level guards. As always pre-season I have high expectations. I have a bunch of faith in the returning players and think 2 or 3 of the in coming players will give good minutes. I still see us landing top 3 in the A10.

I believe Diawara is visiting in October.
Long is also visiting in October.

Somerville is scheduled for Oct 18-20. I wonder if other ‘19 recruits will come for their visit during Rhody Madness (Long and Diawara are scheduled for Oct). Could also have some ‘20 recruits there.

Rhody coaching staff is on the road visiting recruits. They don’t publicize it as much as other schools. The recruits and their families know it and that is what matters. It could be the approach is to stay low key to not draw more attention to the recruit from competing schools. They stayed low key with Omar in the Spring, Long in the Summer and Aris this month.
