Goodine is next in line at St. Andrew’s and with BABC, following in the footsteps of 2018 Cole Swider. Goodine re-classified from 2018 to 2019 when moving from Bishop Stang to St. Andrew’s for last season. He is playing with BABC on the Nike EYBL circuit. His only reported offer is from Boston College last July, but his recruitment has been kept close to the chest. Providence assistant Brian Blaney reached out on June 15th. Other schools that reached out on June 15th include Florida, Georgia Tech, Massachusetts, Miami, Rhode Island, Stanford And UCONN.

This was actually a good breakdown, but the part with he has ties to the program because of Boswell. Goodine played for Expressions before going to BABC

Goodine committed to Syracuse today. That St. Andrew's team this year, with Swider and Goodine, is going to be fun to watch.

Probably eligible immediately
But he did shoot bad his first year, likely why he skipped town at Syracuse. Read the writing on the wall

Finkelstein's comment is classic

Goodine was known for his shooting ability in HS.

Hard to make sweeping generalizations over a lower volume of shots.

If Goodine shot 12-15 in the ACCT and 8-10 from 3, he’s now a 42% shooter and 33% from 3.

This kid is really good. I saw him several times at St. Andrews, including a game he dominated David Duke. Good skills and a great athlete (42 inch vertical).

Good to know we shouldn't make sweeping generalizations over low volume of shots. Jermaine and Goodine are almost identical. Seems I recall a few negative comments about Jermaine and his 3P shooting.

Jermaine Harris
54-131 FG = 41%
3-25 3P = 12%
49-66 FT = 74%

Brycen Goodine
15-50 FG = 30%
3-23 3P = 13%
11-14 FT = 79%

I can’t speak for Harris but with Goodine, he was known as a great shooter in high school and that didn’t translate to limited attempts in college. If Goodine was known as a poor shooter in high school, the percentages may seem to be more indicative on the type of shooter he is.

Reminds me a little of Grant Williams transition to the NBA. Missed his first 25 3s over 20 games, had hit 35% since. Now if Robert Williams or Shaq missed 25 straight 3s, would think more indicative of who they are.

I have watched Harris practice 3P shots all the way around the perimeter. He moves a couple feet after each shot as a coach feeds him the rebounded shots. Trust me, Harris can shoot the 3 ball. He can also hit 80% FTs even though he hit 74% for the season.

Tre Mitchell has the green light for 3Ps playing the center position.

It will be interesting to see how Harris progresses next season.

Its a gamble taking a transfer who has yet to really prove himself at the D1 level. Makes you wonder how a kid with such a high ranking couldn't get off the Syracuse bench with a proven HOF coach ... at least with a guy like Pipkins, you've seen him perform on the bigger stage. Time will tell if this helps pc or not.

And some players just level off. Some players get rave reviews as Freshmen and Sophomores in HS, get high rankings (as they should) but then they plateau their last year or two. College fans are all hyped up but in reality the player is the same - no trajectory.

Then you have the other extreme Obi Toppin who grew a lot his Senior year and after he left HS.

It’s not always the rankings were wrong just many player plateau and many improve a lot

Two years in, Harris CANNOT hit the 3 ball.

Practice is a whole lot different than game settings.

Mitchell shot 33% his freshman year, Harris is 3-36 in his career, a whomping 8.3%.

He’s shown nothing whatsoever during Games that should give us confidence he can hit 3s.

Man oh man I try to bite my tongue but holy
Shit this kid is holier than thou on this board for no reason.

To be fair to him, Ramster was the one comparing Goodine to Harris, because they both didn't have great 3-point percentages. I don't share 15's opinion of Harris, but comparisons between Goodine and Harris are silly to me as well, given the vastly different roles they play on their respective teams.

The silly thing is RJ is saying Good one’s sample size of 3-23 for is too small to make a judgement on. I agree with him

So the irony on the URI board is that Harris is a similar 3-25 but there are certainly no shortage of opinions on that.
