While I'd prefer Shakur, if Lane commits, take it. This guy is looking out of reach.

Yes, Rhody isn't getting Juiston. We are way down on his list. You have to put Kansas, Iowa State and UNLV ahead of Rhody.

Huh? I normally agree with most of your posts, but this one makes no sense.
Dan told our only commitment that he shouldn't worry if Dan will stay or not unless Dan wasn't at Fatts' state championship game. We've seen time and again recruits reopen their recruitment for any number of issues. Dan being at Fatts' state championship game was important. You have to keep recruiting players until they're on campus. And there's no indication that this made us "lose" Juiston because he was never ours. He's never even indicated he's seriously considering us, he's just acknowledged we're seriously recruiting him.

Exactly. Fatts patents called Dan with concerns. His father is one of his coaches and was heavily involved in the recruitment process. Fatts is the real deal.

Kansas is still recruiting JUCO wing Shakur Juiston after landing the Lawsons, source says. Will visit after Iowa State, no date set.

According to Zagoria, Kansas is still recruiting Shakur Juiston even after landing the Lawsons. It seems they have 1 scholarship left. Juiston will visit Kansas, but no date is set as of yet

Many programs, especially ones like Kansas, have no problem recruiting over current players if need be, to get the talent they want.

Cruel business, but they do what it takes to win.

If it's necessary to do that here, then it will happen....loyalty is great, but winning is of a higher importance, like it or not.

The Lawsons have to sit out a year so that wouldn't impact Juiston's playing time next year at least.

Would that rumor have something to do with Jim Carr if he's the lead recruiter on Juiston? Everything else (other available scholarships being taken by Toppin, Lane) should shake out in the next week or so.

Excerpt from the article:

As far as not committing to Iowa State on the visit, Chris Williams of cyclonefanatic.com wrote Sunday: “Shakur Juiston did NOT commit on his visit this weekend. Iowa State never expected him to. His recruitment remains to be a very fluid situation. Sounds like he will be visiting DePaul this week. Why? Some sort of connection with his old AAU coach and that staff. Not really sure. Doubt he ends up there. Stay tuned.”

Juiston is friends and a former teammate of Eli Cain, who is also from Jersey, and played at St. Benedict's. Cain is a guard at DePaul. They played AAU for New Jersey Playaz together.

I guess I don't get the joke?

The new arena opens this November in time for the DePaul Basketball season.
10,000-seat plan
Upon announcement, ESPN reported the expected cost of the 10,000-seat arena, located on Cermak Road between Indiana and Prairie Avenue, across the street from McCormick Place was $173 million. The funding will come from three sources: $70 million from the university, $70 million from a McPier bond fund and $33 million from public taxes (e.e., $103 million from public funds). It will be built to host concerts, conventions and other events in addition to DePaul Basketball games

That's probably the harsh reality of the situation, but for a moment it was damn interesting idea.

I mean why would anyone want to attend college so near to the beaches of Atlantic Ocean when you could be wintering in Ames, Iowa or downtown Chicago?

Ok I wasn't sure if I wasn't missing something on the toilet comparison.
Rosemont Arena is not such a great place or location to play in. This new arena for DePaul could be a game changer for them in attendance and in recruiting. Lot of talent in Chicago that goes elsewhere so DePaul could capitalize on the home grown talent supply.

Wintrust Arena
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wintrust_Arena

Owner: Metropolitan Pier and Exposition Authority
The Metropolitan Pier and Exposition Authority, commonly known as McPier or MPEA, is a corporation that owns and manages Navy Pier and McCormick Place in Chicago. McPier was created by the Illinois General Assembly in 1989 by the "Metropolitan Pier and Exposition Authority Act".
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metropoli ... _Authority

70 million from the university

Imagine that. A private Catholic school actually contributing tens of millions of dollars toward the construction of an arena it will not own but which will be the home of its basketball team. Rhode Island taxpayers were really fleeced with the Dunkin Donuts Center. Remember when all the PC fans were adamant that the school should not contribute to the purchase and renovation that the school would benefit from. It would appear it happens elsewhere, just not in RI when the fix is in.

I liked the post about how many televised games we had last year. I think I counted 24 games (not including NCAAT) on either ESPN, ESPN3, CBSSN, NBCSN, CBS or ASN. That's not to shabby.

Yep! Which is why I haven't given up! Media darlings we Rhody Rams ....

Now I may be looking thru my KeaneyBlue colored glasses but I truly think this is the best landing spot (tho Iowa State / Ames is a awesome campus) for this player, huge minutes and opportunity to be a really diff maker. Could be awesome exposure.

Hope he agrees w me!!!

Well Iowa St has most their televised games on a major network, ESPN, CBS, etc. The viewership on those networks don't really compare to CBSSN, NBCSN and ASN. Not to mention games like Iowa St - Kansas will get the amount of viewers that 3-4 of our combined games on NBCSN will get.

Either way in this day and age it really doesn't matter at all. NBA scouts will find guys who are good even if they're not playing on tv. How many games did Steph Curry play on national television during his career at Davidson?
