Definitely the type of body we could use.

Not much to show here, but he's certainly athletic.

2017 Hutch wing Shakur Juiston went for 21 and 19 last night with Rhody's Jimmy Carr watching.

In the victory with Carr watching, in addition to the 21 points/19 rebounds he had 6 assists, 2 steals and 3 blocks as they beat Allen County CC to go to 27-1. Only loss was by 1 points to Coffeyville. They are the #2 ranked team in the Nation. Hutchinson won 82-62 but they were only leading by 3 points with 10 minutes left in the game.

Season averages through 28 games:
16.8 points per game
11.4 rebounds per game
4.0 assists per game

Let's hope Carr can talk this kid into taking a visit.

Making the tournament would be a huge help with this player. You can then sell a tournament team with immediate playing time at the 4 in the place of KI.

hopefully he has a good relationship with him from some earlier time when he was not so hot or sought after....otherwise, yes , we are overmatched.

Making tournament will help with a lot of recruits

If this guy is any good (it certainly seems like it) and can stay out of foul trouble it is virtually certain that he will be playing at least 30 minutes a game here. Let's hope there is a prior relationship with Carr and Hurley due to the fact that Juiston is originally from Jersey.

Carr vs. Self?.......never mind.

In all fairness, Self vs Anyone, Kansas vs URI - is a tough matchup for us no matter who is at the tip of the spear.

Leave the jucos to us, Self...and get yourself out of here.

Would he really play that much at Kansas? Not likely. Is he concerned with playing time? Most likely.

dont underestimate the value of that bargaining chip. its huge to be able to tell a kid that he can step in and from day 1 will be THE big man on the team and THE focus on O and D down low. especially a JUCO who dont have the time to sit around on the bench waiting for their chance

kid is guaranteed at least 30 min a night and a starting role here.

Here's a link to Juiston's thread on the Kansas board. They like his game, but obviously he wouldn't be playing major minutes there. Some guys on there are very familiar with him - Hutchinson CC is only about 4 hours away from Lawrence.

247 isn't quite up to date on us. They have us as having 1 PF on our roster, sophomore Earl Watson.

Looks like Kansas is pretty interested. After seeing him practice yesterday, they're going back to watch him in a game next week. Wish Dan would get more involved and go see him. Sounds like someone who could be very good here. Had 20 rebounds in a game last week.

Depends on kid, but if he has interest in Kansas and obviously a reduced roll, but a chance to play for a national power who has a chance to compete for national title yearly and is one of the premier programs in nation, very difficult to compete with KU regardless of who gets involved. With that being said, I would also like to see Dan's name mentioned instead of only Carr

Whether, or not we make the tournament this year, will have a lot to do with whether or not he will come here.

Who knows if any of this changes depending on how this weekend goes.

Another HUGE if...but a run to the Sweet 16 elevates your program to a different level. That could certainly change your recruiting list.

I hope we have a shot at this kid.

I would think they would schedule the celebration when all members of the staff could attend.

Have to say I hope someone skips the celebration to be there. This kid is more important than a trophy show. Instant talent that is needed desperately for next year.

All 4 coaches were at the celebration today.

His team advances as Shakur has 23 points, 16 rebounds and this block. If we get this kid, we could be talking another big run next year.

From what I know our efforts are focused on landing this kid.
