Will be at the VCU game today along with Hassan's brother.

We definitely need more guards, so Hurley can go with his
dream of a 5 guard lineup.

In the class of 2018 we actually will. This kid looks like a shooter with deep range, which we always need.

Current '18 guards:

Dowtin
Thompson
Fatts

In your opinion, are 3 guards all that are needed on a team?

So, we don't recruit any other position?
Give me a break!

I'm pretty sure we can recruit this kid AND other positions?

Not much besides guards on the list we've offered.

He played with Sid Wilson before Wilson transferred to Brewster. There's the forward we need.

It was GREAT that Silverio was on this unofficial visit today to see the electric atmosphere at the Ryan Center and the fantastic victory over VCU. In addition he was there with Hassan's brother and both were able to see Hassan have such a phenomenally dominant game with 18 rebounds and 17 points.
Can't draw up a recruiting day script any better than what happened today!!

Yes, too bad Wilson wasn't at the game.

I personally think most of our guys are good shooters. They may not have the percentages but they all CAN make some from behind the 3point line.

This kid looks like a more natural shooter. I wonder if his shot is good enough to make up for what he seemingly lacks in athleticism(IMHO He looks like a pedestrian athlete).

We don't have a knockdown shooter on the roster.
When you recruit athletes to play defense first,
that happens.

Hard to judge his athleticism from that video. Nice Shooter though

This looks like an official visit. He's already been on campus for an unofficial. (Another player who had also been offered by Quinnipiac.)

hmmmm - is that official Iggy? Or are you guessing? Not seeing it anywhere, but would make sense. Just want to make sure I didn't jump the gun on the title.

Biggest indication so far that David Cox is our HC.
No way this happens if a mass exodus is about to occur.
Feeling better now.

Think this will hurt Hurley's reputation in the coaching community if they feel that the UConn staff reached out to Silverio to de-commit?

If he did, it should, because it's a HUGE no-no to try and sway someone with an LOI.....

He probably sent The Mole to do it.

You mean Carpetbagger Tom? Yeah I don't think he's officially on staff yet, so he could lol.

This is linked to his new assistant hire, Kimani Young...New York roots, I believe from New Heights program.

No. pretty sure they're operating in a very Teflon-ish manner...in fact, if anything at all notable comes out of it...will probably be to their benefit

No because it is Santa Clara. If it was a bigger school or in a bigger conference he would be crushed and rightfully so.

Providence just did the same thing to UConn to get MAL. It happens all the time every year. Kentucky does it to everyone. It never matters much to anyone aside from the coach who gets screwed.

All good. I made a slight tweak to the thread title. It was my bad on updating originally. I kind of view you as part poster, part reporter because of your track record of breaking scoops, so I saw you posted and just went with it.

Round and round we go. Would be shocking if the first commit Cox got as HC was a NY guy while he has only himself and Ty on staff.

I'm seeing 2 star recruit... nonetheless would still provide guard depth that we need.

I think Zagoria misstated Silverio's status.....he is not transferring....he de-committed just like Adams did with us....he would be a freshman next year immediately eligible....

Sometimes in releasing recruits from their LOI's the player can be limited to which schools he could choose....maybe that confused Zagoria...

I have only seen Omar twice in AAU tourneys and part of a 3rd game, but I really liked him, going back to when we were initially recruiting him. Tough, hard nosed NYC kid from what I saw, thought he would be a perfect fit for URI. Again, certainly haven't seen him a lot and do not profess to be a scout, but I did like what I have seen of him. I would welcome him in Kingston if he chose that way.
Maybe because I am an old guy, but always love NYC, Philly kids in particular, certain toughness and presence about them that cannot be denied.
