Seems pretty late to get involved with someone so highly rated. I'd think we'd have better luck with him if we were one of the first teams involved and already had a relationship.

That's the next level for this program to get to in recruiting- to be the poacher, not the poachee! They're watching him again today. There's a lot happening in Georgia this live period.

There's no blueprint for recruiting. Happens all different ways.

Of course. It's rare, however, for an A10 level team to be able to get in on a high level player late and get him. Dayton can, VCU under Shaka could and probably still will be able to eventually with Wade. It would be a solid accomplishment- a level unlocked not a blueprint. Players have every right to accept the level of offer they've earned. It's still frustrating, as a coach or fan, to see a player a program's devoted resources to jump at a perceived higher offer.

This tweet sounds like Polley might at least be interested.

TYLER POLLEY CONTINUES TO EXPLODE

We like to share the wealth here at HoopSeen. On Wednesday, we covered Tyler Polley pretty thoroughly but we would be doing a total disservice to everyone involved if we didn’t give the platform to the E1T1 product again.

A 6-foot-8, slender and wiry bodied forward, Polley did it again to kick things off at the Best of the South. While he does have to get stronger in handling the bumps and bruises around the basket, the skillset and feel for the game from the prospering senior is beyond intriguing.

Primarily known as a shooter of the ball in past watches, Polley has made great strides in passing the basketball and rebounding it on the defensive end of the floor. He is a slippery athlete at the basket but is an absolute killer following the high entry catch. Whether it is putting it on the floor off of the righty slice to the basket, hitting the 15-foot jumper, or making the proper pass, the break out forward had it all clicking here in Suwanee.

Watched by TCU head coach Jamie Dixon and an assistant earlier in the day and finished off by an evaluation from Rhode Island head coach Danny Hurley to end the night, others such as South Florida, Central Florida, Seton Hall, and Dayton kept a closetful eye on the potential top-100 recruit, a guy that ended the night on a good note with a new offer in hand from the URI basketball program.

I would say SF. Love a big guy with a jumper.

POLLEY PRODUCES

As a four-star prospect, small forward Tyler Polley’s recruitment has been pretty quiet up until this point compared with his peers ranked in the four-star range. If he plays like he did on the opening night of the final recruiting period of July, he could see his stock rise in a big way.

Polley wasted no time making his mark on the game on Wednesday night. He knocked down a three, a mid-range jumper, and threw down a dunk in transition in the opening minutes of the game. Throughout the game, he continued to prove himself as a shooter, but more than that, a shooter that can hit contested shots. He’s not just a spot-up shooter either; he hit some shots off the dribble as well.

Polley said Saint Louis, Rhode Island and Dayton are the newest schools to join his recruitment in the past couple weeks. They join a list that already included Tennessee, Temple, UAB and Xavier.

John Calipari, Roy Williams, Chris Mack, Tubby Smith, Andy Kennedy, Jim Larranaga and Leonard Hamilton were all in attendance for the Each 1 Teach 1/DC Premier game, so it wouldn’t be a surprise to see Polley’s list grow.

Oklahoma State recently offered Polley and Pitt offered him yesterday.

So one thing we've come to learn this spring and summer is that our staff is very good at identifying and evaluating talent early in the recruiting process.

TYLER POLLEY, F, E1T1

Tyler Polley fell out of our most recent 2017 rankings from this past spring but be sure to watch for his name next time around. The slender bodied but skilled forward had a massive July as he brought in offer after offer and it wasn’t just because of the dreaded potential word.

Regardless of the event that he suited up in, Polley displayed immense upside but also the current production that made him someone that volumes of high-major schools watched throughout the three evaluation periods. While he still does have to get stronger, the E1T1 product showcased improved toughness on scores at the basket but also a better feel for the game as he destroyed his opponents out of the high post setting. Capable of putting it on the floor, hitting the intermediate jumper, and also making the proper pass, Polley will see his name within our rankings next time around, just the same as his name will appear atop of many college recruiting boards up and down the east coast.
