Another case of a "name" school swooping in...

Georgetown sneaks in late and steals Jagan Mosely. Ideal Big East type. Can guard all 3 perimeter spots. Tough, active, buys into who he is

Too bad. The kid seems like a real leader. He reminds me of TJ with more talent. Strong and tough. He said Georgetown was the perfect fit. A guard. A defensive minded player. A jersey kid. A kid who went to St. Anthony's for 1 reason, to play for coach Hurley. Seems like the perfect fit might have been somewhere else, but that's just me.

Georgetown was the last school to offer Mosely, bringing his list of scholarships to 21. He said his decision came down to the Hoyas, Rhode Island, Harvard, Xavier, SMU and Georgia Tech. He visited Rhode Island over the weekend and raved about their presentation for him as well as the idea of playing for coach Dan Hurley, the son of legendary St. Anthony coach Bob Hurley. Harvard was one of the first schools to offer Mosely, and the academic prestige of the Ivy League was very appealing for him as well.

Plus his mother is originally from DC and he still has family in DC.
I like that DH has us in the running for players like this who have high academic goals as well. Look at the prestige of his final group of schools. Amazing what DH has been able to do in 3 years.
No we didn't get Mosely but we will be fine. DH can afford to be selective and he is aiming high

Kid made a decision based on the combination of both basketball and academics, can't really be mad at that. On to the next...

Nobody is going to fault staff for aiming high.
The "He's too good for us", was Tim O'Shea's mantra.
I'm happy to see them going after big talents.
My concerns lie with lesser lights not having us on their lists and
going elsewhere this early.
The roster doesn't need much, and Dan can afford to be picky.

Fair warning that this is more about Mosely than Rhode Island.

His commitment to Georgetown is pretty much everything you want to happen in the world of college basketball recruiting (aside from the obvious fact of your team not getting a guy that would be great for them). He's absolutely a young man who takes the academic side of all this very seriously and had a legitimate struggle with which to go with- academics or basketball. His main influences in this process were his parents- not some handler or hanger-on. Georgetown was recruiting some similar players- and may still sign some of them- but Jagan knew what he wanted, wanted to make sure he got a spot. He didn't wait around to collect offers or to even take his officials. He'll stil take one to Georgetown as a commit, but he wasn't worried about working this process. He's such an impressive representative of St. Anthony and the things they try to do there.

As for a comparison on the current roster, I'd say maybe a less physical, slightly less talentedTerrell? He's definitely not a pure pg yet but will be terrific in three guard sets and will likely contribute more defensively at first than offensively.

Also, a word on Taurean Thompson, the other really good senior on that St. Anthony team- he's immensely talented but has had the hardest time staying healthy. It's been injury after injury for him, which is a shame.

Are we still in on Thompson, Ace?
