Officially visiting Pitt. Has Duke sniffing around.
In short, he's about to blow up.
Not sure how deep we are into his recruitment.
Seems to be a good athlete with a 7'2" wingspan.

KYLE ALEXANDER PLANNING VISITS

Kyle Alexander, a 6-foot-10 2015 forward from Orangeville Prep in Ontario, is working with his family to set some official visits.

His father, Joseph Alexander, told SNY.tv he’s working on an official to Pittsburgh and he’s also hearing from Texas, Wake Forest, St. Bonaventure, Rhode Island, Old Dominion, Rice, UCSB, Arkansas, Duke and others.

“Quite a few schools are interested in Kyle,” he said.

Alexander, who plays alongside Thon Maker and Jamal Murray, is currently out with a fractured wrist he suffered last month.

“He’s 6-10 with a 7-4 wingspan,” Orangeville Prep coach Larry Blunt previously told SNY.tv. “He runs faster than our guards and has a knack for blocking shots. His dad was a Division 1 1,000-point scorer and his sister was an All-American at Syracuse and a first-round draft pick in the WNBA. The kid has been playing basketball for three years and his potential is scary.”

Yeah his dad played for Syracuse, his sister was a first round pick in the WNBA, he is almost seven feet tall and somehow he managed to avoid playing until high school? What was he doing before that? Ice fishing?

I posted this in the other thread I started about the NPSI tourney this week at RIC. Alexander and his Orangeville team are playing on Thursday night and Friday afternoon. So, Dan and staff should be able to see him plenty this week, if indeed, he is our main target.

judging from the offers: JMU, ODU, Pitt, Bonnies, WKU and us - there's absolutely no reason we can't get this kid if we don't want him.

Kyle Alexander, a 6-foot-10 2015 forward from Orangeville Prep in Ontario, enjoyed his weekend visit to St. Bonaventure and is still planning his other officials.

The visit was “great,” his father, Joseph, told SNY.tv.

“They answered all of our questions and focused on what he asked for, which was getting specifics about his major,” Joseph said. “Kyle really liked the coaching staff, as did my wife and I. It was an informative visit for Kyle.”

Alexander has an official set for Pittsburgh Feb. 13-15 and Rice, Rhode Island and Western Kentucky also want him to visit.

“We’ll see if the Pitt visit happens and decide where the final three visits will be after that,” he said.

If he is playing at RIC this weekend we should at least get an "unofficial visit". Maybe that makes too much sense..........

Its probably more about whether the visit to Pitt gets cancelled. Pitt is still involved with some of the really high level guys left on the board.

If we want him and we get a visit I like our chances based on that interview with his dad. Danny is a straight shooter and I think a guy a parent would be willing to send their kid to.

If he's planning on taking more visits hopefully we are still alive and can get one of them. I know I'm biased but if he is considering playing in the A10 he owes it to himself to check us out, considering what we are building and how he could fit into it.

Odd. He was supposed to be visiting Pitt this weekend.
Wonder if Pitt told him not to bother?
We did that with a couple of kids after Thompson declared.

Alexander did not visit Pitt.

If St. Bonaventure was his clear first choice and they were making him a priority, I imagine it would be done.

What this new late March date gives is flexibility in that programs may have a better chance of knowing who's not returning. It might also get him some game time, as he's been out.

Players delay decision hoping to get better offers (see Jarvis Garrett).

Right, that goes with what I'm saying. Once the season ends, teams have a better idea of who's coming and going, and the recruit player pool shrinks, which creates opportunities. Alexander could want a school that currently doesn't have room for him but may later. Garrett liked Rhody enough and didn't feel like gambling. Worked out well for all.

Garrett was also a regular visitor to URI,
so he had a much better feel for the program, than Alexander,
who has not even visited.
He also had been recruited for well over a year by us.

Crap. He's the high school big I was hoping for. I thought we were pretty heavily involved with him. So, I figured I'd go to see him play at RIC in January. He wasn't there because he was hurt. Since then, there has been nothing connecting him to URI. I think it was Poyser's dad who was tweeting about Kyle and his visits. I asked him if Rhody was getting a visit. He said, "From who?" I said, "Kyle." He never answered me.

Verbal Commits updates daily. They took Johnny Hamilton off our page today. Kyle Alexander is the only one left, other than '16s. So, if we do get a big, he's coming out of nowhere.
