I'm guessing Rod's sources are pretty close to the situation.

The tweet is from a Memphis writer. I doubt he knows what happened here yesterday.

Great pickup and hopefully he pans out since you never really know with a kid like this. With one opening left for next year, we need a true inside presence now!

Re: '13 CT F Kuron Iverson (Memphis Transfer)
Yeah, I agree. Just posted it because it was the first info I had seen from a writer with any schools mentioned. They are always much more careful then we as fans need to be, and will usually only tell what they absolutely know to be true. The fact that he mentions URI as likely destination was pretty telling I thought.rodfromcranston wrote:The tweet is from a Memphis writer. I doubt he knows what happened here yesterday.

So if we get Kuron we will have a Hurley, a Murray, and an Iverson. If nothing else at least we'll have the All Blood Lines Team.

So, two questions now.....1. Is Kuron still on campus? 2. Does he start classes on Monday?

Re: '13 CT F Kuron Iverson (Memphis Transfer)
Is this Iverson thing a done deal or what?? Can the school issue a press release or is everything shut down for the weekend? Is he still on campus or visiting UMass..........

I'm sure as soon as it is a done deal and official then we'll hear about it.

Re: '13 CT F Kuron Iverson (Memphis Transfer)
I would expect an announcement by Dan or the school Monday.
I would think he would have something to say about it at the coach's show that night.
Normal last day of registration was today.
They are probably waiting on URI to accept the transcript. Hopefully there are no issues with that....

Can the "Thread-Meister" please correct the spelling of Iverson's first name? (It's driving me to drink….)

Re: '13 CT F Kuron Iverson (Memphis Transfer)
"Kuran"
1. He was a good student last year at Memphis, and it was reported he made Spring semester honors with a 3.3.
2. At Northwest Catholic [near Hartford], he was a 2 or 3 for his first three years there. I don't know what positions he played in his Senior Year at the prep school in Virginia or at Memphis. I watched him a number of times three years ago, and thinking back, ......decent handle, and nice jump shot. He moved well for a 6-8, 16 year old [at that time]. Build and agility reminded me of Orion Outerbridge. Offensive skills were as good as Orion's in his Senior year.
3. A lot to work with for the two years Hurley would have him for. The big question for me, would he be able to play with the defensive intensity the coach demands?

Re: '13 CT F Kuran Iverson (Memphis Transfer)
Hello everyone I'm a memphis tigers fan, a coach, and a big Kuran Iverson fan which is what brought me to this board, and i'd like to give you my insight on kuran.
Though i haven't seen them play in person i've every game i've been able to watch this season which is about 5-10 games. Attitude wise Kuran has always seemed a little mature, his sophomore year of high school he was the #1 player in his class which included players like Jabari Parker. I'm not 100% sure of the true cause of his transfer from memphis, but what i do know is us memphis fans were very excited to have him and we all believed that he was gonna be a big time player for us. As far as i know kuran has always been a good student, and is a player that i know wants to be good.
Game film break down
as you all know kuran is at least 6'8'' 200lbs, he might be a little taller then that, Memphis's PF Shaq Goodwin is at least 6'8''/6'9'' and I've seen him and kuran stand next to each other and kuran is definitely at least an inch taller then him. Also Kuran's wingspan is near 7'1'', so he has terrific size for a SF. As a senior in high school Kuran actually played PG for his squad, so he has a decent handle and is decent at getting to the spots he wants to on the floor. This year though left a lot to be desired. Kuran is a decent athlete and has decent all around ability at his size, but he is strictly a perimeter player. Comparing his high school highlights to his play this year you can tell there was a lack of confidence. This year i rarely saw Kuran take more then 2 dribbles when creating from the perimeter. He's afraid of contact most likely due to his lack of strength, he is still skinny. He has decent shot mechanics though he only made two 3-point shots this year. His best game for us came in garbage time vs Oklahoma state where he had 13pts 4rbs 1ast, on 4-7 shooting from the field and 1-2 from 3 all in just 13 minutes. Defensively kuran has the potential to stand out. On the college level he can guard the 2, 3, and 4. He uses he length well to effect passing lanes and had a solid amount of deflections this year. But hes lacking awareness. He still doesn't know hot to play team defense, there were multiple times this year he'd be caught "ball watching" and his man would cut baseline for an easy layup.
Overall
overall i'd have to say Kuran is definitely an NBA talent. But i personally don't think he'll reach that potential until he's able to get with NBA coaches and trainers. If you're looking for a player comparison i'd have to say Giannis Antetokounmpo. Not saying he's that good or that he'll even be that good, but he definitely has the same all around skill in a 6'9'' NBA body, but he's more of the "2 years away from being 2 years away" type of player.

Re: '13 CT F Kuran Iverson (Memphis Transfer)
overall the best thing for Kuran is playing time. Our coach has never been really good at developing players, and he has always had a quick trigger. So when Kuran would make a mistake (Kuran's mistakes tend to snowball), and he'd get yanked out instantly and probably not see the floor for the rest of the game. He just needs the game experience for the game to slow down for him. But when you watch him play for such a tall and long player you can tell he belongs on a basketball court. His movements are smooth and leave you to believe that he can be much more. He has as much potential as anyone I've seen, he just needs the coaching, playing time, and patience.rodfromcranston wrote:Sounds like Dan and staff have some work to do to get

In these situations for URI nothing ever seems to ever transpire easily. Hopes go way up and then there always seems like a deflation point. As long as it gets done all will be good.Billyboy78 wrote:Does this mean it's not a done deal?rodfromcranston wrote:Sounds like Dan and staff have some work to do to get

If he's at today's game you'd have to think its a done deal.

Re: '13 CT F Kuran Iverson (Memphis Transfer)
Saying he has to be brought up to speed means either he is on board and now needs a crash course in the program or was a weird way of saying he isn't on board yet. Not sure why you'd have to bring a guy who isn't in your program "up to speed."

Jim Fleming tweeted big time game today at Ryan Center and said "an elite prospect will be in the house too". Is he referring to a football player, Iverson or another hoop recruit?
Yes, deflation, I did think of that.

Jeff Goodman who has been very critical of Iverson says Danny really rolling dice with this one. Gary Parrish on other hand says type of gamble worth making. I totally agree with Parrish.
