Everybody and his mother is "interested", but offers list is way smaller
than his interest list. Even Rutgers hasn't offered.

bob huggins was at severe last game to check him out. Here is a site i like to check out for our prospets. I mostly just look at the tweets that mention the player and who was there scouting.

Isaiah Lewis is a mess, and probably will wind up a juco.
Staff thinks Severe is more like 6'1", and prefers a bigger guard.
Don't know if we have a realistic shot at Terrell next year.
I'm guessing Desmond Williams winds up here as the scorer they're
looking for.

Sounds good, and I'll be happy with Desmond Williams.

Is it me or does the recruiting saga of Jon Severe remind anyone of the Kaza Keane recruitment. A lot of teams were 'interested' but for Keane it end up being a lot of smoke and mirrors. I find myself more and more interested in Severe's recuitment because will he end up getting the high major offer he clearly believes he is worthy of, or will he eat humble pie and ultimately have to settle for what actual offers he has.

Who knows though, maybe he does get his high major wish. I like BC as a fit but that's like my hometown bias.

STC, my thoughts exactly.
Keane played that game, and got screwed by waiting too long.
Severe claims all these schools are interested, but the offers are far fewer than the
interest.
He has had a tremendous senior year.
If he declared in the Fall, they'd obviously have taken him.
Since then, they've more or less moved on, and Severe doesn't even mention us anymore.
I think Hurley has seen the small guards we have and realized, he likes what size will bring to both ends
of the court.
If they bring in Desmond Williams, you could at times, have a giant backcourt of 6'4" Matthews and 6'6"
Williams. I don't recall URI ever having that kind of size in the backcourt.

"**Christ the King senior shooting guard Jon Severe will trip to Alabama Feb. 25-26, head coach Joe Arbitello told SNY.tv. West Virginia assistant Larry Harrison is also expected to watch the 6-foot-2 Severe tonight (Wednesday) when Christ the King plays Holy Cross in the New York CHSAA Brooklyn/ Queens Diocesan Playoffs. Purdue, Tennessee and Rutgers are among the other schools involved, along with Rhode Island, St. Bonaventure, Duquesne and George Washington. Check back here later tonight for more on Severe."

Like rod said, no, but because schools can't officially comment on recruits, this information gets a little muddled. High school coaches and players can talk about any schools they want, whether they're currently involved or not, or sometimes schools involved at one time are still mentioned, for a variety of reasons, including simple misinformation/mistake or to try to increase the value of a player.

The more I delve into 2013 type recruiting, the more I think most of the
"information" out there, is bogus.
The kid's AAU and high school/prep coaches put out a lot of misdirected nonsense.
Timing is everything, too.
If Severe had declared the weekend he was here, they'd have taken him. Obviously, there's
a change of direction by staff. I understand Severe is closer to 6'1", which is small for a SG.

Injury isn't so bad, says Severe and Christ the King coach Joe Arbitello.

I know he's long been off the radar for URI, but Severe has reportedly cut his list to Pitt, Fordham, Duquesne, Wake, Seton Hall, and West Virginia. I kind of hope he ends up in the A10.

I don't get it. are all the schools interested in him, waiting on him. Is he that good? will they commit to other players and not have any scholorships left, by the time he decides. ?

He is supposedly one of the top players in NYC. I'm not sure why we're no longer involved with him, but it has been suggested he is on the smallish side for a 2 guard and that Dan likes his 2s to be a little bigger. If he were off the charts good and smallish, my guess is that Dan would love him. He's good, but not that good.

Some of those seem to be a reach. His high school coach thinks he should go the mid-major route. Right now, it's a supply and demand issue- not that many scorers out there, and these schools seem to think he fills a need.

X is a pretty solid 2 guard playing for Danny - I don't know if I'd even put him at 6'1 in real life.

Obviously he was kind of a "best option" situation, but still a beast.

Severe is NYC POY, and Mr. Basketball.
He can score, he can shoot. He's supposed to be a tough kid.
I don't know why we bowed out of his recruiting.
He did visit here with Martin.
He is surely a notch above the other names mentioned for the SG
position, and URI is above Fordham and Duquesne.
I don't get it.

May 22 is a week past the LOI signing period.
Kaza Keane redux.
Kid wanted to make a Lebron James type statement and
waitied too long.
I don't feel sorry for these kids, who think the world revolves around them.

I hate to say this about high school kids, but there are some things that have happened in the course of his recruiting that raise some character flags for me. Lots of highly ranked recruits make an event out of their announcement, but there are some things here that raise concerns for me. If Dan decided to pass on this kid I won't question it.

Who knows?
I know if Fordham is in the mix, academics can't be the problem.
As for his on the court exploits, I haven't read or heard anything negative.
I'm sure staff has a good reason for bowing out.
Rumor of another player we were close to, was he was looking for $$$$.
Nobody on any D-1 coaching staff is going to say that was the case, but it happens.

There's a desperation to his recruitment.
He's like Keane in that he's waiting for a BCS
solid offer.
He's all over the place. Now supposedly Seton Hall is in the mix
and he never even visited Pitt.
Something off kilter here.

We're trashing this kid, why? It seems like our recruitment of him ended after his visit, maybe it just wasn't a match. If he wants to take his time with his decision, so what, it's his decision. I don't think it tells us a damn thing about his character. Its not his fault the NY Post and Zags are writing about his every move. Half the kids who go D-1 these days make a big deal about their choice, why pick him out?

I don't think anyone is saying he is a bad person, just that he seems to have a prima donna-ish attitude and appears to enjoy playing the recruiting game a little too much for our tastes. Also, he doesn't seen to be grounded and honest with himself about his ability and appears borderline obsessed with going to a school that will validate his ego rather than the school that will be the best fit for him. Maybe I will be proved wrong about that, but that is my opinion at this stage. Again, I'm not saying he is a bad person, just that I'm glad we aren't in play for him.

So he's a "head case", not a team guy, not grounded, "borderline obsessed", and seems to have a "prima donna-ish attitude". I wouldn't feel qualified to make these kind of assessments about most people I've actually met. You guys are impressive, do me next.
