Expressions Elite head coach Tyron Boswell announced on Friday that Tyrique Jones will be transferring from Bloomfield High School in Connecticut to Vermont Academy and reclassifying to 2016 in the process.

Jones is a six-foot-seven forward who adds to an already talented young core in the rising junior class with Sedee Keita, K.J. Santos, Christian Vital, and Bruce Brown.

Jones is a long and athletic four-man with developing inside-out tools who will join Keita to form one of the most athletic and talented frontcourt tandems in Class AA.

He’ll replace Tyler Jackson, the seven-foot-two rising senior center who is now expected to transfer to South Kent next year, according to various reports from last week.

I'm hoping Coach Boswell sends us Falzon first for next year, then we can take Jones to replace Watson the year after that.....sounds good to me.

Sure, it's partly in reference to hiring practices, as mentioned above. But more than that, it's about doing things in a way that sets up a program so it's better when you leave it than when you got it- whenever that is (when his youngest kid graduates high school or 10 years from now). Some coaches come in and completely clean house- a symptom of ego, perhaps, and a desire to have every part of a turnaround come back to them. Hurley kept Murphy, a move that was certainly advantageous for both of them. Murphy is great, and he was able to do some things under Hurley that were not at all possible with the other guy. I get the feeling you think I've become anti-Preston or something, which couldn't be further from the truth. It's his job to recruit against other schools, URI included, with whatever information he has. Think how much talk there has been recently about relationships making the difference (Hare, Terrell). Whether it was Murray or Bobby or Murphy who left for other things or a recruit who made another decision, there's a right way to act that keeps those doors open.

6-8 from Vermont Academy. Coach and Finkelstein say best rebounder in New England prep school and great motor in this interview. Many schools mentioned and rising talent, but URI included.

I know he is wide open and early in his selection process, but the kid is developing into a big time prospect for 2016. Good to even be mentioned. I talked to someone last night that has seen him and says he reminds him of a Hassan Martin type. Fearless, never takes a play off and tremendous rebounder, shot blocker. I didn't realize it, but its good to note he is a member of Expressions Elite organization, and we seem to be developing a nice relationship with them.

I said this in another thread, but we are going to have to beat some legit programs for the types of players we all want to get. Being the only team in on a guy wouldn't be a good sign. It is important to be realistic and devote resources to guys you actually have a shot with, but you also can't run away every time a big name program gets interested.

Couldn't agree more Truepoint. We will have to beat out top programs of the world for the players that we desire. As well as the more local teams that are trying to get to the same place we are.

The had Enoch and they still were in on Diamond Stone until the end.

Reading the Uconn boards it sounds like they don't have a need at his position. They are looking for a true center and not a PF. Sounds like he isn't a high priority for them which might provide is the opening to go get em.
