Rod, do you have an age on him? At 6'7, I imagine he could still stand to grow another inch or two. At 6'9, 230 as a #3, that would be a tough player to guard, and he could easily play 4 in a pinch. Interesting he doesn't have a longer list of suitors, especially given the Findlay and CIA Bounce connections. Lengthy #3's are hard to come by.

Can score in a variety of ways, seems to have a pretty diverse offensive game. Seems to have solid ability to build upon, will be interesting to see how he performs against stronger competition. This might be a little harsh to say about a kid who's probably 16 years old, but I don't really care for how he celebrates after every single basket.

so is it 6'8" 215 or 6'5" 185? there's a slight difference in the two. We all know there is no measuring desire, so these numbers aren't quite as important as overall basketball acumen, but it would be nice to know which set of specs is closer to true.

In the video, he sure didn't look 6'8", but that can be deceiving.

Not disrespecting his game at all... but did you see the absolute scrubs he was playing against in the video?

sure, lets see what he does against better comp, but he definitely has a lot of 'stuff' in his skill set already, open floor, back to the basket, some decent defense. Jay, I like how they included 'highlights' against his own 2nd team.

Not sure if he would fit in:

Dillon Brooks led Canada with 29 points, going 16-for-17 from the line, while Montaque “Teki” Gill-Caesar added 24 points and six rebounds.

For those interested……This kid played against THE VERY BEST THE USA HAD TO OFFER. Hope that whoever is the lead recruiter -- beside Coach Hurley -- is on the top of HIS game.

Ha, that is a pretty esoteric description. I mean, most guys who play any sort of college ball are the ones who dominate a Y league or pick-up, nevermind someone who spent six years playing pro ball overseas.

I completely understand this. Jeff Kent played in the Narragansett Indoor league when I was playing. Definitely could have been a 30-40 point a game guy if he went hard. And he is what, early 40s?

Yes, he can play this upcoming season. And he's considered a Top 100 recruit for Oregon. A late but significant recruit

I wonder how much the muddle over Powell's scholarship has
impeded them from actively recruiting players for this season?
It was August before they resolved it, which means they're getting in late
telling people, "Oh, by the way, we do have room for you."

Yeah, and at one time URI was involved with Sabonis, too.

I pointed this out in the NCAA tournament thread.
Wonder how close we got with this kid?
Again, would be be an All-American taking
6-8 shots a game in our guard oriented offense?

Hassan Martin (8.4) and Kuran Iverson (8.1) each averaged more than eight shots per game for URI this season. And Dillon Brooks is a much better perimeter scorer than either one of those two players. But don't let facts get in the way of your typically intractable point of view.

He's absolutely trolling you, Rod, but in this case I absolutely agree with him. You really think Hurley is that shitty of an offensive coach that he would waste a talent like Brooks? Our offense is "guard-oriented" because the most skilled offensive players we have are guards. Makes sense to me.

3 out of the 4 Final Four teams have guard orientated offenses.

How many college or pro teams actually feature their offense around post players nowadays?

Times have changed.

Guess 15 missed last year's NCAAs.
9 of the first 10 players picked in the NBA draft were big men.
Kaminsky, Okafor, Towns, Sabonis,
all impact bigs, which their teams were centered around.
Every Calipari Kentucky team except this year,
focused on great size.
Every coach in his right mind would love to have
solid post play.
It's just that now, everyone thinks getting dirty
under the basket is a crime.

Of course every year is different, with last year being dominated by big men / a good amount of one and dones, to this years final four being guard orientated teams (except UNC) and more experienced.
