Re: Derrien King
http://www.areacodesbasketball.com/2013 ... itational/Derrien King (Cathedral Prep) 6-7 – May still play his Prep year since he is a young senior. Crazy upside with his length and perimeter tools for his size. Can really stroke it and ballhandling is much improved. If he plays another year he will become a high major target for sure. Right now mid majors can come in and get a steal since he is a qualifier as well. National Sleeper.

Another intriguing California kid. Which coach has the connections out there?

Re: Derrien King
For someone who they claim could be a high major prospect if he takes his prep year, I can't find anything on the recruiting websites about him.

Re: Derrien King
One of the problems recruiting players from warm weather climates.
Not only are they coming here from a great distance, but the cold, snow and ice
is a culture shock.
If the Phantom is from Kansas, he's used to cold winters, though.

Preston Murphy has been recruiting in California and has ties there. He was there for a few days.

Re: Derrien King
This sounds like the recruiting of Big O. Grab him now or watch him explode next year

Re: Derrien King
Except, the Big O was rated 3 stars by ESPN, and
was not an unrated phantom who you can't find any information on.
Guess Hurley and staff might be comfortable enough with present
talent level, to take a flier on a project?

Re: Derrien King
Seems like there haven't been many visits lately, so if he impresses the coaches in the workout ...

Re: Derrien King
A red shirt year might not be a bad idea since playing time might be limited if no front court players leave. Of course if we were able to snag a top 100 or 75 PF or C then I wouldn't want them to red shirt.

Re: Derrien King
Hopefully if he went to the football game he noticed the decent crowd and the nice weather but not the scoreboard.

Re: Derrien King
Bailey and King are both from Crompton so Preston's connection there really paying off. If Bailey was going to visit, you'd think maybe he'd come with King.
