Re: '14 CA SG Isaiah Bailey
Most of his offers are coming from west coast schools:

Yeah, definitely a west coast focus. Generally a 3 star recruit, with high potential.

Re: '14 CA SG Isaiah Bailey
He seems to be listed as a SF everywhere I look. Says he needs work on his outside shot, but he's very athletic and has skills.

Re: '14 CA SG Isaiah Bailey
ESPN has him as a SG.... wing is probably most accurate. This team needs a scorer, the positions will work themselves out.Billyboy78 wrote:He seems to be listed as a SF everywhere I look. Says he needs work on his outside shot, but he's very athletic and has skills.

Hopefully we can get him to come east for a visit. Saw an interview with him and he said his #1 choice is Arizona. But that was last year. Things might have changed.

Re: '14 CA SG/SF Isaiah Bailey
Top 150, but other than our offer, I don't
see us listed with him, anywhere.
Does he want to go 3,000 miles from home?
Seems a long shot at best.

I'm hearing there's a very good chance this will happen.

Mike Brown, during Skinner's time in the mid 90's.

I also think we also had a big man transfer from UNLV in here for 1 year...but I am drawing a blank on his name.

A lot of kids like to go far from home. URI has more scholarship players from Michigan (3) than N.J. (2).

Josh King moved out here, true, but his father worked for Harvard.

Wasn't the UNLV big man transfer Danny Griffin? I think he was only eligible for one semester upon transferring.

Re: '14 CA SG/SF Isaiah Bailey
Highly touted player coming out of high school.
Could barely walk by the time we got him.
Never really did anything here. Should have been on the PUP list,
if there was ever such a thing in college ball.

Josh Oppenheimer, a guard for Tom Penders for a year, was from Sherman Oaks, California. He was recently named an assistant coach for the Milwaukee Bucks…...

I remember Oppenheimer. I always wondered if he was related to Jess Oppenheimer, the producer of the "I Love Lucy" show...just a bit of useless trivia.bressler3south wrote:Josh Oppenheimer, a guard for Tom Penders for a year, was from Sherman Oaks, California. Re: '14 CA SG/SF Isaiah Bailey
ESPN Analyst
Updated 06/27/2013
Strengths:
Bailey is a scoring guard with a prototypical Division I frame and the athleticism to match. He can explode in transition and get to the rim with relative ease. His length and quick hands are impressive on the defensive end and he plays with hard.
Weaknesses:
Bailey needs extensive work on his fundamentals (playing on balance/jump stop/becoming more efficient) and developing mid-range skills (pull-up game/runners/floaters/etc.) as well as a more fluid 3-point jump shot.
Bottom Line:
Overall, Bailey is an elite level prospect, but in order for his game to go to the next level the above-mentioned skills must improve as does his approach (plays too fast and not on balance).

Re: '14 CA SG/SF Isaiah Bailey
Sounds like a task for Hurley and company.
He seems like he could develop into one of those
Temple style swingmen or a Keith Cothran type.
Very athletic, not great shooters.

Re: '14 CA SG/SF Isaiah Bailey
Keith turned into a very good mid range shooter and a decent 3 point shooter by his senior year. Was always a good finisher at the rim, especially in transition.

More recent video. Definitely very athletic. Outside shot looks strange. Fresno seems to be the leader.

Any inside knowledge on our chances with Bailey? A top 150 player would be another huge addition creating further competition for playing time.

Re: '14 CA SG/SF Isaiah Bailey
Named one of the top uncommitted prospects outside of the top 100.

Isaiah Bailey (Compton, Calif./Compton)
SG, 6-5, 190
Bailey has been a well-known commodity out West since his sophomore campaign. He has always had that prototypical frame with long arms, and his bounce is high level. He can knock in the 3-point shot, but he is at his best when slashing to the rim in transition. He can score with a runner, a pull-up 3-pointer or an emphatic dunk. Defensively, he has the length and active hands to be a lock-down defender at the next level. With Bailey, it has always been about consistency issues and playing efficient. If he can clean up those aspects of his game, his upside is impressive. He visits Fresno State this weekend and has Memphis, Oregon State, Washington State and Portland State showing interest as well.

Re: '14 CA SG/SF Isaiah Bailey
Iggy said about a month ago that they were good, if you scroll up a little. Other than that, no idea. Is he willing to come cross country? Seems like he'd be a good get, an athletic lock down defender. We'll see.CT Rhody wrote:Any inside knowledge on our chances with Bailey? I agree, Rod... based on nothing but geography. Looks like he would be a nice get though.

Re: '14 CA SG/SF Isaiah Bailey
I could get excited about this guy.
That was a helluva alley-oop at the end of his highlight (though the pass was definitely the more impressive component).
He reminded me a bit of Cothran, especially when he was wearing #22

It was over with him when he didn't visit with King.
