So, it's Memphis, if he's making a visit and deciding that soon.
Glad I didn't get my hopes up.

Good afternoon, everyone!!! :D
Actually, if Woodson is making up his mind so hastily, there's still a problem for him: Memphis is loaded, and they have some experienced guys up front, including Shaq Goodwin and Pellom, the transfer from Washington. Not to mention a consensus top-five recruiting class.
Time will tell…..

Well, he's visiting Memphis this weekend and deciding in the first week of June. That gives him a week to 10 days to make some other visits. We'll see if we get one or not.

This is as of today. I agree that Memphis is the most likely landing spot, but we've made the final 4!

Grant Milner ‏@GrantMilner 59m
Just spoke with a source close to Dominic Woodson. He said that Dom is down to South Carolina, Rhode Island, Gonzaga, and Memphis.

and this...

Woodson will NOT visit Memphis this weekend because of the dead period. Plus, he is set to graduate on Friday.

and a little more, this guy Milner is from Memphis, BTW.

Dominic Woodson update from Grant

He spoke to Woodson's AAU coach/mentor just now and he told Grant that Dom is down to South Carolina, Rhode Island, Gonzaga, and Memphis. Apparently eliminating Marshall and Cincinnati. He also told him that he will not visit this weekend because of two things: 1) he graduates on Friday and 2) primarily because of the NCAA dead period that runs until midnight on Saturday.

Could he start his visit on Sunday? I guess, but the majority of his allowable 48 hours would be spent on campus at the beginning of next week, not this weekend.

Hurley kind of teased us saying recruiting for 2013 was done unless something really special came along. My guess is Woodson is "something really special".

The fact that we got EC, Hassan and Butler, and are in the final two for Woodson after an 8 win season is mind blowing. Can you imagine what type of recruit we might get when we are winning 20-25 games?

we have a coach with a national brand name in hoops in general, but specifically high school hoops.

there is no doubt that our recruits will only get bigger and better when we finally have success. it's not an if, it's a when.

The deal on Woodson and anyone else they have visit is,
the staff can do individual workouts with recruits.
This is why the got Butler. He impressed them greatly.
Woodson will be subject to the individual workout.
Much of what staff wants to learn will happen in these workouts.
Dan said there's a lot to look at during these visits. He mentioned eye contact during
dinner, and ability to socialize.
He said if a kid has good parents and a good coach, he'll always have a shot at getting him.
He's not happy with delusional kids or coaches.

Good morning, Everyone! :D
To all who were able to go last night, thank you very much for the updates!!! It must have been a fantastic experience to be with so many people who truly care about URI in general, and, specifically, URI men's hoops!!!!
Rod's reporting of what Coach Hurley said that, "if a kid has good parents and a good coach, he'll always have a shot at getting him.
He's not happy with delusional kids or coaches"
basically says it all about the future of The Dan Hurley Era at URI.
No shortcuts, no excuses, no entitlement.
A commitment to excel!
This man isn't going to develop a basketball-coaching tree, he's developing a "HURLEY-FAMILY FOREST!!!!!!!"
As an alumnus, I feel blessed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D
Thanks again,

This guy is so fanatically committed to what he's doing, it's almost scary.
However, it's his way or the highway, and that won't change.
He's still a little bitter about the degree of the mess he inherited,
parts of which, he's still dealing with.

Was told the plan is for Woodson to be on a campus for summer classes. They are still awaiting news on his most recent ACT score, though.

Looking for a comparison for Dominic Woodson? His coaches say look no further than Z-Bo, but with a little more range.

Woodson was top 25 at one point.
Had a mediocre season at Huntington, and gained weight.
He may be a project at this point, unless he starts to get it.

Woodson seems to have some special skills for a big guy. He has a nice outside shot, but can also go inside and post and bang the boards. The one thing that really jumps out at me that I have seen on tape is his passing ability, exceptional for a guy his size.

Are these stats correct? 5.8 PPG, 6.1 RPG and 1 BPG for a 6'10" 290lb high school center? That team must have been loaded.

Well, they did have Wiggins and Rathan-Mayes. They were the big scorers on the team.

some live action on woodson. clearly looks big, have seen him listed at 245 285 and 315.

Certainly could be a reason that he appears to have limited choices for a good 6 10 big man.

I just hope he is not another Jason Francis.

Also, think that their recruiting class has 5 4 star players. Does he think there is going to get playing time there would Memphis be looking to redshirt him
the way that Baylor was going to do?

I feel optimistic, IF Hurley likes what he sees in the workout. I think it is entirely possible that coach could decide that we will not offer- after all, gaining a lot of weight your senior year, when schools are making decisons is not a good indicator of commitment.

Mc Ram's post is 100% on the money.
Hurley has to decide if he's a fit, given the
culture he's trying to build.
We're not desperate, so there's no need to take anyone who
could be high maintenance.

Just saw an interview of him describing what he wants from the school he chooses to attend. He said they have to have his major which will be Kinesiology, a team that passes the ball inside, and a team where he can play as a freshman. We have a very good kinesiology program, we will be passing it inside a lot more, and he can definitely see playing time. Pretty easy decision to me! I hope his workout goes well and that Dan will want to bring him in.

That's not the easiest field of study for sure. Maybe he has some catching up to do in terms of academics or maybe he needs some help with focus and effort, but he can't be a slow learner if he wants a degree in kinesiology. It doesn't sound like he'd be a problem for the overall academic achievement of the team. I really hope this ends up being a fit. Maybe Dominic can double major in Kinesiology and Keaneysiology. :D

Seriously, I think how hard we go after him, will depend on
how his visit impresses Dan Hurley. I think Preston is sold on
him, but Dan is taking a wait and see attitude.
