'14 MA SG Jared Terrell (URI Commit)

Other than Terrell and Abu (who we were never really involved with)
there are no players of the level of EC Matthews or Hassan Martin in the offers.
The PFs, in particular, are not a very strong group.
If Hurley and staff could reel in those guys last year, why the drop off now?
Also, isn't Murray supposed to be a recruiting demon?
I don't have any of the answers right now.
Oh, and tell Boswell to kiss my ass.

The PC board is saying the same thing about Abu. Boswell is PUSHING him to either NC State or Florida. I hope KMac is at this press conference and let's his opinion be heard, especially to Boswell.

I agree with Rod. I'm pissed; but such is life. One thing, KMac immediately banging the "something's dirty" drum wreaks of being a homer. He may be right; but the local guy crying foul when it looks like the local teams got beat by the BCS schools just doesn't sound good.

I agree Sean, especially when youre supposed to be a "journalist". its one thing for us as fans to cry foul, we obviously are all homers...but as a writer you should really have some kind of proof if youre going to make those claims.

People posting here about "if something is up, then say something," you really can't do that. One, you don't want to be known among your peers as a rat and someone they can't trust, and two you can't bite the hand that feeds. It's just an unfortunate reality that has to be dealt with. If you want to go after this caliber of player, you have to have a plan or strategy in place for dealing with it.

I've said this many times here, but you can't win them all in recruiting. As fans, it is disappointing but our fan base in particular shows a disheartening willingness to proclaim the sky is falling. It's like we are a bunch of eyores moping around. Jared was our first choice, but we will find someone else and be fine without him.

I think the RI schools were a great fit for both of these players......tho hard to argue against NC State,
hoop central there.

Too bad, but if they don't choose you better off to move on.

Maybe there is still a pleasant surprise coming from the dog and pony show later.

I really can't stand all the URI ppl tweeting that Terrell is going to OKST and made the wrong decision, that it smells fishy, and bashing on this whole thing in general. It makes us look bad and it makes you look stupid, cuz you have no damn clue what is going to happen since he hasn't announced yet. AT LEAST save it for after he makes the official decision....

I'm not sure if anyone posted this, but did you see where a football player claims that he was offered $600,000 to go play at some schools?http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1751 ... commitment

What I don't like about this very public ceremony, is everyone knows he is our number one target; and if we don't get him, anyone we go after now knows they are the backup plan. So most likely we will have to be the best school recruiting them to win. On the other hand, if he chooses us, this is huge exposure!

OK, so now everybody has a source that says OKS- could be he really is telling people URI, and in some perverted logic, the non RI people are trying to make it more difficult for him to say URI. Nothing would surprise me, if it is OKS why would it get leaked early and take some of the suspense out of the Lebron announcement(I mean Jared announcement)

If you follow the logic, Jared was respectful enough to call Dan to tell him he was going to OK. ST. Dan tells Zags that Jared's not coming here. Zags tweets that Jared is not coming here. Pretty simple, if you ask me.

DiSano too. Not sure if Dan is his source specifically, but he is very connected to the program.

Plus, many here have sources. If these rumors were not true we would have heard by now.

Honestly, the only thing that has made me think we might not get Terrell is that we now have scheduled a recruit to visit Sept 20th. Other than that, there's no reason to pick a side based on speculation, i'll wait until he makes his decision. Like I said before, Hurley has used the media in the past to "create a stir". It would certainly make URI look good if they "out-recruited" the now-perceived favorite in OKST

That visit had been scheduled for awhile.

I really don't think Dan would make his good friend, Zags, look foolish. Why would he do that to him?

that sure is the positive outlook.

I'm also getting pissed about it for both RI teams, hurley and cooley are excellent coaches and they can't recruit the best kids out of their back yards because of clowns like boswell giving bad advice.

He'll get there next year, just in time for football season, and not a soul
outside the basketball program will have any idea who he is.
Let it go. This trying to schmooze him after the fact is a pipe dream.
The fix is in, the deal is done. Wake up.
As for the comments that we who are unhappy with this are somehow, "small time"
or whatever, TOO BAD!

Coaches Hurley and Murphy doing that?!?!?!?!?!?!?!? Don't think so, too much class. If Terrell or any other recruit had second thoughts and contacted them, then that would be a different story. "Kids," for one reason or another, are always backing out of their commitments in today's world, no matter what they are, never mind college basketball verbals…..
