Funny, I remember when I said we didn't have a shot at
Terrell last summer.
The next thing was, Preston telling me,
"Have faith in your coaches."
Almost got him back in the fall.........
Maybe I'll go over to D'Vine and ask Bob if he wants to relive history.

Terrell's strength is going to the basket, but he can shoot too...and EC and Jarvis.

Who are you looking for, Ray Allen???????? Jimmy Baron??? Sonar Hassett??? Ray Hamilton?????? Wisconsin???This "perimeter stuff" is like knocking your head against the wall. There are x-amount of pure shooters out there. There are x-amount of very good shooters, good shooters, and fair shooters.
Then, there are guys who have a pretty good shot -- BUT CAN SCORE.
Scorers, mix and match. E.C, Matthews is the latest good example of that.
Even if Terrell were to sign with URI, what --you'd say no because he's not a pure perimeter shooter????????
That's ridiculous.
There were games when this squad went 8-12 minutes without ANY type of basket. Get the best available players, the most talented players.
If they work 80% as hard as E.C. and want to be coached, shooting technique will improve.

Concern is that opposing teams will do the same thing as last year.. A packed in 2-3 zone, limiting penetration and any kind of inside game while daring us to shoot from outside...

Better PG play will help.. but yes, I'd like to see us add a deep threat... Maybe you're right Bress, may not be anyone available, maybe we think there is a JUCO or 5th year guy? I'd certainly take Terrell but the non-existence of an outside threat would still concern me.

Quite possibly staff believes between EC, Garrett, Biggie, Butler, JR there is enough of an outside threat and they can go for more of a wing type? or both?

Hard to speculate but this will play itself out in the next few weeks.

Well, I asked Dan last fall,
Do you have enough shooters?"
"Oh, yeah......." and he went on to enumerate the guys you mentioned, minus Garrett of course.
Well, obviously that was a mis-judgement of talent on hand.
Now, we go into this year, minus Munford, our leading scorer and
always a threat. at least, to spread the defense.
So, we're probably in worse shape than the begininig of the season.
Garrett won't start for a while, leaving Minnis a non shooter as a starter, and EC as the only shooter
in the starting lineup.
Pretty scary stuff.
I don't have faith that after two years, we'll find a shooter in the next two weeks.
No more Butlers, please.

Look, we are close to a full roster. But we NEED MORE POINTS. At this point I really don't care who it is. Hell, if Butler steps up and becomes a 15-18 guy I'm fine with it. If Jared commits I would be ecstatic but we just need 1 more guy to get the ball in the hoop. EC,Hass,Garrett,Hare,Gil and all need 1 more guy to fill it up. Who is it going to be?

I think we are going to get either Terrell or Mann [a '15] if his mom is hired here. But not both.

Could be why there is doubt about Terrell revisiting. Might be waiting on the decision from Thorr on the women's hire. If Mann is coming in '15, then Terrell isn't, most likely.

Nothing concrete, just my two cents.

The problem with Mann is that he can probably go anywhere he wants. He's even thought to be a better prospect than Terrell. I just don't see it.

Of course, I would want Terrell to visit us again, but, the fact is that he already visited us once, knows the campus, DH etc.

Is it possible that DH and Cox can visit with Jared and his parents on their turf to close the deal?

By the way, I wonder how well Cox knows Jared, after all, Rutgers did offer him also.??

He's higher rated than EC. I believe he's a top 50 player in the '15 class, top rated player in New England.

My point is that kids make college decisions for all kinds of reasons- Isiah Whitehead a 5* (maybe one and done player) decides on Seton Hall. Creighton in Omaha has managed. Many examples. No reason that URI can't be in on the mix for an occasional 4 * player

Not that I think it really matters, Terrell is rated 79 th on ESPN and is the fifth highest in NE this year. (Chukwu,Kaleb Joseph, Malik-Abu and Goodluck Okonobah)

Still would love to have him and Mann. DH would find a way to make it work.

He said similar things after his visit to Kingston. Then he went to OSU. I get the overwhelming feeling no one here thinks he'll be back to the Ryan Center unless it's against PC in 2 years or we pick up a home and home vs BC via PMurph. The only thing he hasn't see in Kingston is the new fitness and wellness center, PC I'm guessing is almost unchanged.
