Very lean, but has some pretty good schools looking at him early in the process. With our recent success recruiting in Michigan I have to think we will get a crack at this, but if Michigan/MSU offer it could be an impossible pull.

Turner had 35 points early in the season against the team that EC Mathews went against in the finals of the class A championship. Did make the 10 player all state team but was one of only two payers to get special mention with the other being Martel walker.

Turner, a 2014 guard from De La Salle (MI), continues to improve his game. With a majority of mid-major offers, his goal is to get to the next level and play at the highest level. As local powerhouses Michigan and Michigan State have hosted him on campus for visits, neither has presented a scholarship his way. If he elevates his game this spring and summer, the high-major offers are bound to be extended.

If he's living in Michigan, I wouldn't think so. And according to Wikipedia on Tina, no.

Nobody of note, so far. Total crickets compared to last year.
Bobby has had a super recruiting year at Buffalo.
Again I ask, did Bobby's presence have anything to do with recruiting success?

Rod, I would guess the loss of Bobby has had some impact, especially for recruiting guards. It's hard to say how much though, yet. If this continues into next year's spring signing period, I might get a little concerned, but if URI contends for an NCAA berth this season, I would think things will turn out just fine.

Remember, Hurley or no Hurley, we're still just coming off an 8-21 season. We get some national pub for winning games, then I wouldn't get too worried.

It's a tough game, competing against the big boy schools for top 100's. We're not there yet. My guess is, Dan will land a couple of under-the-radar type guys this year and next. Like he's said, the type that are the right fit for his program.

I'm not the least bit worried about Hurley and his staff being able to recruit. I think they pushed really hard for Terrell and are now trying to re-group and put together their next plan of action.

It is easy to get wrapped up in the rankings of these recruits, especially after the public recruitments of EC and Terrell, but it looks like the coaching has cast a wide net and I trust their ability to evaluate and develop talent.

Not only did we sign two top kids last year, we signed then before Dan had coached a single game here. And while Dan is an up and coming coach, when you talk about Hurleys as players, Bobby is the legend. Losing an assistant coach like that has to hurt.

They were so, so close to this not even having to be a conversation. Without Bobby, they just missed on Terrell. Preston was the lead assistant on EC and Carr was on Hassan, and Biruta and Munford are here because of Dan. Personally, I'm still a little mad about not having another year to watch them coach together, and it was a nice sell having him as a coach. Anytime a team loses the highest ranked assistant, it's an adjustment, but this staff and team will be just fine. And despite what Dan has said and done to solidify his commitment to staying here, other coaches talk.

Ah, so you're saying other coaches are putting it out there that Dan is a short timer here?
We know this goes on all the time in recruiting. Other programs will go after what they consider to be
the weakness in another.
I bring up Bobby's absence, not as a criticism of Dan, Preston or any of the staff. I love these guys.
However, there was no denying the star power of Bobby.
He was the one with the two NCAA rings and he was a number one draft pick in the NBA.
Selling a guard that he'd be coached by three former guards, one of whom may have been
the greatest PG in NCAA history, had to be a plus.
Martin was someone who was well known to the staff from proximity to Wagner. Martin also
knew them as well.
Dan and Bobby got Oneykaba.
Time will tell who comes here in this recruiting cycle. So far, there doesn't appear to
be anything imminent.

I'm wondering if after the Terrell fiasco, that they are keeping things a little quieter in Kingston for a while regarding recruits. I was hoping we'd get a recruit at Rhody Madness. It still could happen. Remember, we heard nothing about Matthew Butler until he actually committed.

I don't begrudge any of these young men the right to announce their decisions in the way that they want, but remember how fun it was when Matthews' and Martin's commitments just randomly came over Twitter, with no hype or drama?

The most visitors to this site at one time was recorded during Terrell's announcement. Agree, Bobby had the "star power" and his absence will be missed. If those 2 had stayed together for a couple more years I think our assent would be even faster.

RIFan, I think you're spot on with that assessment.

We might have gotten better a little faster with Bobby here, but maybe that will work out on the other end, and keep Dan here longer. :D

This is always the tough recruiting year in a rebuild. The new coach buzz is gone and the stench of a wretched season remains. That's why the experts made such a big deal about being so close with Terrell. I'm not saying the 2014 class is done and they won't pull something out of their hat but it is following the pattern that most complete rebuilds go through.

I'd love to hear about Preston (or someone) being a presence in whatever gym he's playing in on a consistent basis.

He's definitely earning his money. BC is putting together a very good class on the back of his work and are supposedly leading for a few more top 100 guys. Good assistants in college hoops are probably the best bang for the buck when it comes to return on investment.
