Kendall Pollard is 6'5" forward from Chicago. He's a three star.
Not any big schools after him, probably because of his size.
Heard a rumor we were recruiting him.
Now on Twitter, he and EC are exchanging DMs.
Interesting, if not conclusive.

He's said to be deciding between Dayton, Rhode Island, Colorado State, Tulsa, and Virginia Tech and is supposed to be visiting URI this weekend.

Slowly but surely trying to get all the guys we're involved with over here. I don't have a ton of time at the moment, but anyone who wants to can post the name of a player with a thread on the old board and I will find it and bring it over here.

Nice player. I wonder where he fits in?
Seems more forward than guard, according to what I've read.
A swingman, in college, would be my guess.

From this tape, it looks like he might have skills to play the 2 spot. He handles pretty well, has a nice pull up jumper and a pretty nice looking stroke from deep. He looks very athletic. Once again, hard to judge by tape alone, but that's all we've got. If he can play the 2, he's got good size for that spot also, and would give us very good size at the guard spots, along with E.C., in the future.

Agree 100% with Billyboy. Nice looking shot, which is one thing you can't deny. If he could play the 2 at his size, we'd have one of the biggest backcourts around, with EC and Kendall.

If Pollard has the quickness to be a 2 in college and it looks like he does, he will be one nasty shooting guard, heck these guys could still grow a little, if we landed Pollard and he rounds out our future backcourt, we could be looking at the tallest backcourt in the land. David Robinson added 9 inches in college, if these guys add an inch or two over the next year or so...forget about it!

Good point, RR.
I expect Martin to grow at least a couple of inches, as he's only 16.

"6'6 2013 wing Kendall Pollard from Simeon Career Academy will take his second official visit this weekend when he attends Midnight Madness at the University Of Rhode Island. It is also the second school in the Atlantic Ten Conference that has received an official from Pollard. The first was to Dayton two weeks ago. Right now it appears to be a four horse race for Pollard's services from amongst Dayton, Rhode Island, Colorado State and Bradley. Pollard has had in-home visits with both Rams head coach Larry Eustachy and Braves head coach Geno Ford and has taken unofficial visits to both schools."

Kendall Pollard Narrows List To 2 Schools
Chicago Hoops - Recruiting
Written by Scott Burgess

Sunday, 14 October 2012 21:25

Simeon small forward Kendall Pollard is one of the top prospects left in the state. He took an official visit to Rhode Island this weekend and told us what he did on the trip.

“I took a campus tour when I first got there, watched a couple of practices, and hung out with the guys afterwards.”

Pollard was impressed with how hard the team worked while he was there. He also liked the diversity throughout the campus. He told us in general what he has grown to like about their program.

“I like the team. They were all easy to get along with. I like their work ethic and the A-10.”

The Simeon wing tells me he is almost ready to make a decision and has two schools he is still considering.

“Rhode Island and Dayton.”

He says to expect a decision within the next week. Sounds like another top 10 prospect is about to come off the board!

Oh, and here's what some jackass from North Texas State U, that basketball factory, had to say about Pollard's recruitment by us:

"URI basketball is an absolute joke. It's the only major university in the whole state and no one gives a damn. Obviously that changes when they put a winning product on the floor, but that hasn't happened in quite some time. I don't know anything about Dayton, but I know URI does have a great basketball facility that they built within the last 10 years. And their new head coach is really, really good. But, we should have absolutely no problem beating them out with our visit and our team's talent. My heart goes out to this kid if he has to suffer through a URI football game though. I'd rather go watch Brown University football. As for Dayton, their basketball team is good, but I know nothing at all about them other than that."

Just watched the video for the first time. Liked that he can shoot and is not just an athletic wing. I agree with Blue Man: like that he came to midnight madness.
Seems like when Hurley gets a verbal it happens quickly after a visit so we'll see what happens this week.

It's only annoying when people try to pass off information that is everywhere on twitter as something they're "scooping." No need to try and make yourself more important than you are or overstate things when the information is out there for everyone. And the recruits might not mind, but I have to think that the people who go overboard are noticed, and not in a good way.

Regardless of where he ends up, I hope ESPN picks up one of his high school games. I want to see that roster play together.

Last I saw, 12345 was tweeting EC to put pressure on Pollard.
He was also busting Dayshun Smith's balls about Pollard possibly going here instead of Dayton.
Don't understand why he'd do that.
Since eevryone and his mother is tweeting recruuits, despite NCAA rules,
it would seem, as PSC78 (what ever happened to him?) used to say, it's an unenforceable rule.
Retweets mean nothing. Cooke and Brown used to retweet stuff I'd say to Cooke's father about them coming to URI.
According to 12345, through Alex Kline, Pollard's mother wants Dayton for proximity, and Pollard likes URI, for reasons he stated.

I was looking at his twitter feed because I'm officially a junkie until the season starts...but he hasn't RT'd anything from Dayton people in a very very long time. He also said for EC to give him his number so they could talk.

Yeah I'm sure this is very TMZ of us, but you'd have to think he's coming here.

Plus you figure that if you were looking for a place to spend 4 years of your life, it'd be nice to know that the people you'd be playing in front of are already looking forward to you being here.

I was initially worried at what you said, because the last thing I think anyone would want to do on this board is affect Hurley's recruiting in a negative way.

I stumbled upon this story..

http://espn.go.com/college-sports/recru ... recruiting

"NCAA bylaw 13.10.2, which restricts "comments before signing" made by any representative of the institution about a prospect."

I figure the rules only apply to a coach, player, or staff member in the athletic department. I don't think anyone not related to the school beyond being a fan is in any way breaking this rule.

I remember when we were recruiting Josh Brown.
He was getting buried with Temple supporters urging him to go there.

I agree with Rhody78PSC..it seems unenforceable.

I will donate $10 to every school we are recruiting against for a kid, become a booster, and then pester the kid with illegal tweets about going to college.

Very true. I feel like this rule applies to the Nevin Shapiros of the world. If a fan were to tweet an unsigned recruit and promise giving something for him coming to a school, that'd be a problem. But if a fan is simply saying how awesome it would be if that guy came to the school he likes, I can't see that being a problem.

If you say you’re a Rhody fan, I know you are my brother. For you have suffered as I have suffered.

Per Matt Schwade, the rivals.com Dayton Flyers publisher, it is sounding like the announcement will be Friday morning sometime. Has anybody heard anything else?
