I should learn to never read anything into tweets. Early in the week, all Kendall's retweets had been from URI people. Last couple of days, his retweets have been from Dayton people. Somebody remind me to not judge what someone is thinking by his twitter account.

I tweeted him something, for the hell of it, to see if it would get reweeted, and it didn't .

Maybe his mom talked him into Dayton a couple of days ago.

Maybe. Or maybe we can just wait until he announces. It is folly to read into these tweets.

This summer in the EYBL Nike Tournament Mean Streets (Pollard's Team) lost to The Family of Detroit (Mathew's Team) by the score of 80-76 with Dan Hurley on site for this game.
Pollard started the game for Mean Streets and hit 5-8 FGs totalling 11 points, had 7 rebounds, 1 steal, 1 assist in 23 minutes of play. He also had 4 fouls. Not bad production in highly competitive games possessing very highly talented players.

Let's hope it's Rhody tomorrow.

whatever. still one of the best classes we've ever had, still one of the best coaches we've ever had, he'll regret that decision when when he realizes he's in ohio and we'll be celebrating titles. more of this to come:

To be honest. I'm not that surprised looking at the team we have for the 2013 season. I am not sure how much playing time he would have had. I think Hurley will pull in a top tier pure SG. Not a swing man. Onward and upward

Me too, but good for him. The length and pageantry of some these announcements have been ridiculous.

We still have a sholarship available now. There will be high school seniors that explode this year, that were not expected to develop as much as they do. There will still be plenty of talent available, or even another transfer or JC player. We will still get a good player with that last scholarship.

He talks about being comfortable with the other kids in his recruiting class who are also going to Dayton. Maybe if EC and Hassan would have been at Rhody Madness, it could have made a difference, if he had got to hang out with them and got to know them.

Don't get why Martin, at least, wasn't invited.
Pollard would have been nice to get. Still, he's really a small small forward, maybe a swingman.
Hopefully, Hurley and company will get a pure off guard instead.
I wonder what happened with Martez Walker? Beyond his mother dying, he's visiting Temple.
Severe is heavily involved with Rutgers and St. John's.
We'll see. Maybe Williams from CCRI would fit the bill?

I don't think there's a rush to fill this spot. EC is a PG/SG - we still have powell for the next couple years. Munford and Biggie as well. I don't think Hurley is going to fill a scholarship spot just to fill it. We have a big class coming in next year as it is.

Too bad, would have been a nice addition. The bad news for him now is that he has to face us every year...

EC didn't decide on URI to play off guard.
There's still a question of Bigby and how many scholarships we really have, one or two.
The only sport in 2013 without depth is 2 guard.
Hurley and company may come up with a better player, or a better fit.
EC verballed when Brown or Cooke went elsewhere, for instance.
And who even knew about The Big O?
Martin is a SF with a bigger upside than Pollard, assuming SF is really Pollard's position.
Time will tell.

I know he didn't, but I'm sure if the situation called for it he could do it and do it well.

I revert to our trust in the Hurleys to do the right thing.

I expect Hurley to honor his promise to EC that he would be a point guard.
I can't see Hurley and Preston pulling a bait and switch on the kid, especially since EC playing the point as a condition of his coming here, is very well known in college circles.
Why would they jeopardize thier reputation just to break their word?

There was one recruit brought in for Midnight Madness, Kendall Pollard...the staff wanted him. Based on the track record, I wouldn't be surprised if the staff winds up turning that open spot into someone better but the staff went all out for a reason. I'm all for putting Pollard in the rearview, but let's not be those fans who can't acknowledge we lost a recruiting a battle.
(This comment isn't in reply to anyone specific in this thread, it's more in response to posts in other threads but since it's about Pollard, I thought it should be here.)

We did lose. I think we all would have liked to get Pollard, but it's not the end of the world. I believe we were in the final two of both Josh Brown and Terrence Samuel and lost both of those also. But we have since got commitments from two very good players. Hurley will get another good player in this case too.

Agreed. Kudos to Dayton for a nice get.

As far as our recruiting goes I am sure there are also a half dozen kids the staff is tracking now that we do not know about. If one pops, great, otherwise the staff may see what happens in the spring. There are always kids that decommit or kids that wait too long and their dream school grabs another player at their position. Lots of talent still out there.

(on a side note - it was reported that Jamel Artis was going to Pitt, but I have yet to see any official word on this. Has anyone? I know that we were involved at one point and he is like Pollard in that he could play the SF or SG.)

Watching Simeon-DeSoto on ESPN tonight. Just want to watch some non NBA games.
Pollard looks like a good, bullish, high energy, physical defensive player. Guarding Matt Jones,
and doing a nice job. Jones is a bigtime Duke recruit.
Hasn't shown much on offense, except for posterizing somebody with a vicious slam dunk.
Don't see hm as a guard on offense, though. Likes to drive to the hoop.
Jabari Parker sure doesn't look like the number two player in the
country. Has a foot injury, and is out of shape, because of the injury.
There's a zillion bigtime coaches at this game. Coach K and Tom Izzo, are there.
Simeon is the #1 team in the US. Getting beaten by double digits, as I write this.
29 points after the 3rd quarter.
Supposedly they have 8 D-1 players.
