Nik is having an excellent game so far. Wish he'd play like this more often.

Wow, Nik is four assists away from a triple-double with 4:00 to go and one of the stats isn't turnovers. Shocking....

Ha yeah, luckily he has done enough to forget about that one. That was a total freshman move, got excited and wanted to dunk it so bad when he should have just laid it in.

It looked like he thought he got hit and threw it toward the basket as a result.

Just an incredible shot. And even though Munford had two men near him, he was still able to elevate and get a clean look.

X goes from goat to hero in a matter of seconds

why we let them take yet another 3 at the end is beyond me, please foul in that situation!

some big efforts tonight from nik, hare/aaman and powell. and another clutch shot for X.

I usually am all for the foul up 3 strategy, but I dont know about there. Still alot of time left. He let the shot go with 10 seconds left, if you foul there you are leaving alot of time for us to miss some free throws at the other end and then give them time for another shot. I think its gotta be under 5-6 seconds to use the foul strategy.

Winning never gets old....no matter how you do it....nice to win a close one.

Dayton has got to be thinking, what is it about the #5 in a Rhody uniform in close games, amazing.....

adam, you are dead on about that strategy.

Other teams seem to always hit their 3's late against us, no matter what. At least having the last shot was the difference tonight.

Agreed. They fouled in the St. Louis game in a similar situation but with a few less seconds on the clock.

Nice win. A fun night in the RC. Hurley was obviously fired up after the game and nice to see the players go over to the student section. Great game by Nik. Nice hustle game by TJ. Two freshmen big guys had their best combined game. (Worst officiating crew of the season. )

Feel great for the players and Coach Hurley. The team assists were the key, lots of passes to open players, and sometimes it appeared a pass to many. They made big shots shots when needed to keep the lead in the 4-7 range. X is X........where's our Dayton Flyer Fan?? Go Rhody!!

Re: fouling, Dayton didn't take a timeout before either of their last two 3-point attempts. I believe in the post-game, Hurley says he wanted them to foul, but it was tough to get that across to them without a timeout.

Yeah I was going to say that as well, it happened so quickly that it would have been hard to get that point across. Maybe with a more experienced team it can become a thing that he just trusts them to do in the proper situation.

Good to hear Hurley say he wanted to foul in those circumstances. I was screaming to foul from my seat as we're some others.....especially on that last one.

It looked like Hurley was trying to signal for timeout after X hit the game winner but in the chaos the refs (who were TERRIBLE) didn't notice.

OK gang, I called it first.
Just got back, which is more than I can say for my voice.
What a game!
I thought it would be a replay of the George Mason game, with us having a lead throughout
the second half and giving up the tying three near the end.
Thanks to XAVIER MUNFORD, we won! What a clutch shot!
Great intense team effort.
Nik played 37 minutes and did everything. TJ gave us a boost.
Malone hit some big shots. Powell couldn't really get his shot all night, but
protected the ball well.
Most imprtantly, out centers showed up and played well.
Aaman, I love his heart and low post game.
Hare played the best I've seen him since PC. He went up and grabbed rebounds with
both hands.
I was happy to be there, tonight.
At halftime, I got to talk at length to The Godfather and Milan.
Bob tells me that our AAU connections in Michigan are solid and the pipeline from
there will continue.
All in all, a great night to be a Ram.

Oh, and this is the first game in quiet a while that X's mobility was back.
His drives to the basket were solid evidence of that.
He's a different player, when he can vary his game, and not be limited to just eprimeter shots.

Doesn't it seem like the A10 assigns refs based on the talent level of the teams involved?

In other words, two bottom feeders, bad refs. Two good teams, good refs. One bad team, one good team, somewhere in the middle.

Or maybe there just aren't enough good refs around.

Maybe when we get good, as in next year, we'll get better refs for our games.

I'm not sure, seemed like it.

Fordham-URI = shitty refs

Dayton-URI = shitty refs

VCU-Butler = good refs

My first game in person in a while. I love the movement on offense, lots of screens and a lot of ball movement, so different from the standing around of the past several seasons (amazing what a little coaching can do)....19 assists, must be a high for the season, 50% shooting, 45% from 3, some big, clutch shots from all three of the Ms., obviously with the biggest from X at the end. Defensively, they had a few lapses for some open layups, but overall played tough. Jim Carr pointed out on the radio that TJ guarded Dillard, Stanford, Oliver (his ex HS teammate) and Pierre, meaning he guarded the 1,2,3 and 4. I love his toughness. That dive to the floor causing the backcourt violation was a great play. Great game to watch in person, a disappointing crowd in my opinion and a great result...good night out.

So in regards to the foul at the end, after watching that clip of the final play again I think Dan is actually going crazy on the sidelines giving the motion to foul. At first I thought he was trying to call a timeout, but after seeing it again I think he may have been hitting his arm to signal foul. Just dont think anybody saw it.

That was my take, too. But in fairness to the players, they can't be looking over to the sideline there with 3 seconds to play. They need to find their guys and get a stop. The players should probably be aware that the coach wants to foul in that situation without being told when the situation actually arises. I'm sure by this time next year it will go without saying (literally).

The best team effort game, this year. There wasn't a guy who didnt contribute. I love the effort of diving for every loose balls. Nik played his best game ever as a Ram. I'm really looking forward to see T.J. in the years to come. He feels to me as a jamal wilson type of player in his underclassman years. He is going to be a great role player next year.
Even though the year is yet to be over. I CAN'T WAIT FOR NEXT YEAR! I hope our boys get rewarded down the stretch by making it to Brooklyn. But its on them and a little help. the bonnies game may come back to bite us from that goal.
