Dayton -3........whatta ya think??

URI host Dayton tonight at 7 at the Ryan Center. URI has had success lately against the flyers winning 4 in a row and 7 of the last 9 meetings. We all remember the 2009 Marquis Jones lay up in OT as time expired to beat Dayton (see below) and the next year when he hit a 3 with 3 seconds to play to beat Dayton in Dayton ending their 30 game home winning streak. Last year in an upset URI went to Dayton and beat them by 14.

Hopefully Munford's ankle is getting better.
Are we allowed to discuss the actual games on this site, anymore?
Doesn't seem much interest in the team itself.
Then again, half the posts here lately are from PC fans.

I've enjoyed the season for the effort. For the players, I hope things fall their way and they could find a few more wins. I know Hurley if fighting for every win.....That said, there might be a point where a look toward next year might be worth the gamble of playing Powell, X, TG, Hare and Aaman together for some extended minutes......?

As much as I would like to see that group play more minutes together, I don't see Coach Hurley doing that. He still wants to place the best lineup option on the court to give best change to win.....coaches play the games to win......not doing test drives for down the road.....no??

Most of Dayton's scoring comes from their two starting guards...need a good defensive effort from Mike, X and TJ keeping them out of the lane and making them take tough shots. I think we will win this game by about 10 points.

Of course, staying out of foul trouble defending the perimeter is a must, but foul trouble and short bench has been a problem, maybe we/ll see of TJ is the lock down defender many suggest he is.......

TJ is a good defender, but not a "lockdown" defender. Those are guys who cause turnovers
resulting in baskets.
Staying with your man is only part of defending.

Man watching those Marquis videos again is great. I remember both times going from being so angry with the lack of an actual play being run to going crazy when he hit both shots.

Great memories of the Marquis game. My my roommate and a couple friends downed a bottle of 100 proof before we hit up the game. Craziest I saw it at the RC in my time there as a student. Ended up walking out with the Section 215 sign after the game amidst all the chaos. Still have that sign today haha.

Man, can't believe its been 4 years since that game. How I wish I could go back

Up by six at half but lose by ten because.....ah forget it. I think Rhody wins by 10. Dayton is pretty tall and their rebound rates are very good. If Rhody manages not to get killed on the boards, I wouldn't be surprised if they won.

I had the best seat in the house when Marquis hit that shot to win that Dayton game.

I really like URI this week. I think it is a good situation spot for them. They got smoked by UMASS then lost a tough one at home with only 10% of the arena in attendance. There should be a halfway decent crowd tonight and Rhody should be motivated to play. Technically their season isnt over yet and I think they will be motivated to play.

Has anyone else tried the coxsports online media player yet today? the whole site is down for renewal from what I'm seeing, one can't even contact them by creating a ticket. What the shit man? I'm stuck at work, need to stream this game. Anyone out here with any clue about this?

From what I can see it looks ready to go at 7. I always access it through rhody.com.

haha this is amazing. I am having the same problem. Looks like they forgot to renew their domain name. Classic stuff...

I was able to create a ticket though, so I'll let you know if I hear anything back from them.

as it turns out i'm not working, but still need the service man cox is crazy! i'm on the phone with cox right now, been on for about 35 minutes, and they have no idea about coxsportsonline at all. Never even heard of it, I had to navigate them to the web page for them to believe it exists.

I am not going to be happy if I don't get to see this game. I also hate that there is no way to contact URI on gorhody.com to even alert them of the problem and maybe get somebody on it.

Yeah its when trying to launch the actual media player. Try clicking Launch Media Player at the top.

Judging by the fact that they have a picture of Will Daniels in the header, I am guessing the site is not a priority for them. Amazed they even got Hurley in there.

But honestly, my guess is that its a NeuLion issue, who runs the streaming for them. The actual Cox site that we can still get to is coxsportsonline.com, and the media player where you watch the actual stream is cox-sports.com and thats the one that is expired. So I would bet that its NeuLion that screwed up and the people at Cox don't even know that the media player has a different domain.

I tried to contact neulion directly but that didn't happen either. they do support a good amount of sites but do not list coxsports as one of them.

Has the feel of another game we really had no business even being in at the half. Getting outrebounded and out shot. Turnovers and a few extra 3's have been the difference. Will be interesting to see how we come out in the 2nd half.

Great first half for Nik: 8 points, 6 rebounds (3 offensive), 4 assists, 3 steals and 0 turnovers and 0 fouls

Off the game for a moment... I liked the halftime interview with Thorr at the half. The more I hear from him and with some of his recent hires I have really come around on him. He has doing a great job putting his stamp on URI athletics. My confidence in Bjorn leading URI Athletics continues to grow.
