Re: Will we see the swoon?
Baron's team has already gone in the crapper, he's not even waiting til February this year. 8-2 start followed up by a 5-5 stretch. At least the golden boy Billy is getting his shots.
I don't think anyone misses that bum Jim Baron. Good riddance.

Re: Will we see the swoon?
Rpiforecast is projecting Canisius to finish at 17-12, #127. Even if they won every one of their remaining regular season games, that would only get them to #51, which most likely would not be good enough for an at large bid, so they will most likely have to win their conference tournament to make the NCAA tournament.

Has there ever been an at-large bid from that conference? The "Sultan of Swoon" strikes again.

Iona got an at large NCAA bid from the MAAC just last year going 25-7 in the regular season. They were only the 2nd team ever from the MACC to get an at large in the league's 31 year history.

Seriously, who cares! Ramster sometimes you seem to still be pretty obsessed with the guy.

Baron is gone. Let go of your hate. There is plenty about our program that you should instead be focused on. We lost to Fordham today.

So what? Some of us weren't in love with Baron as you are.
We look at the crap we saw today, and put the blame where is
belongs. Right on Jim CFL Baron.

I was so in love with Baron that I went to see his team a total of three times in his last two seasons in Kingston. It was too painful to for me to see more. I however choose not to look back but instead focus on the future.

Canisius last year: 5-25, 1-17 in the MAAC. 332 RPI
Canisius this year: 13-7' 6-3 123 RPI
He's obviously done a few things right.

Re: Will we see the swoon?
Yeah, he inherited a loaded team.
Check the transfers he got from the prior coach.
Five, including a couple of 6'10" bigmen that we could use, and his best shooter, Sosa.
He's also coaching at a level that better suits him.

Yeah."they were so "loaded" they were picked to finish 9th out 10!!!! Funny.
Fact is, he's a decent choice to turn around a program in the shitter....like we were/are. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad he's long gone. But he had a decent run here with the glaring exception that he couldn't get us over the line to the Dance.
It'll be 14 years ince we've danced this year. Hurley will need the usual 3-4 years to have the mess left behind flush through completely. All we should be looking for this year is continuous improvement and growing consistency. Last two games aren't a good sign in that regard.

Shhhhh, we are not allowed to talk about it, but there is a game of interest at 4:00 PM today on ESPN3. I need to find something to watch on a Sunday without football.

Re: Will we see the swoon?
I don't really care how Baron does these days. I'm glad he has moved on. I don't hold the hatred some have for him and his family. No one forced Carothers to give him a ridiculous contract. Was Baron supposed to say no to that and an extension.
The two worst moves in my time following URI were hiring Jerry D and giving Baron a lengthy contract based on one good season and hope. URI made Baron a wealthy man. He was an OK transition choice after the Jerry D disgrace. But it would have been good if URI let him to to Virginia Tech.

A crazy finish to that canisius niagara game. Billy with the go ahead basket with 10 sec left, a three from niagara and then a three just late leaving barons hand for the win. Oh well...
