The group includes 11 former players, three head coaches and two individuals that were both a player and a coach for their respective institutions. The impressive list includes several nationally recognized names and four members of the Naismith National Basketball Hall of Fame (Tony Hinkle, Red Auerbach, Tom Gola, John Chaney).

Lou Roe over Dr. J? Many of these coaches and players were with their teams before an A-10. So why is Erving not in the first class. Or am I going blind?

I mean, even the URI selection is questionable. Chubin over Frank Keaney?

Re: A10 Conference Announces Inaugural Men's Basketball Lege
It appears to me that some schools took the approach of nominating players or coaches that actually participated in the A-10 as opposed to guys like Dr. J and Bob Lanier who were pre A-10. Our pick, (no Frank Keaney) is a little puzzling, though.

It wouldn't surprise me if they don't do Erving until they're positive they can get him to attend.Ramblinrose wrote:Lou Roe over Dr. J? Many of these coaches and players were with their teams before an A-10. So why is Erving not in the first class. Or am I going blind?

I was going to say something along the same lines as this. Usually these types of "teams" have a lot more to it then just who "deserves" it or who it "should be".SGreenwell wrote:It wouldn't surprise me if they don't do Erving until they're positive they can get him to attend.Ramblinrose wrote:Lou Roe over Dr. J? WHAT HAPPENS WHEN A TEAM LEAVES THE A-10 DOES THE LEGEND REMAIN

Marcus Camby would seem a logical choice for UMass.

Butler and VCU have been in the league for about an hour. How do they get people in?

Shouldn't this only include players and coaches who actually competed in the Atlantic-10 or its predecessor, the Eastern 8?
