We don't need a new floor. Just refinish the one we have in a top notch manner.
The Ram is getting faded by all the polyurethane coats, the endlines are green, for the same reason,
the old 3 point lines are still visible.
It looks shabby. A good refinish would be an awful lot cheaper than a new floor.

If we were to get a new floor, I wouold suggest the outline of rhode island behind the ram in a darker wood just like Ohio State. Great idea

If they can name half the State for Alan Shawn Feinstein,
URI can name it's old gym and new basketball floor after Frank Keaney.

I like the ohio state idea. Maybe reverse it so all you'd need to do was refinish. Have the giant ram, but then paint a smaller RI state outline and fill it in keaney blue

Maybe you guys should go with a funky new floor, like Oregon has. Oregon's floor is AWESOME IMO.

I don't know, have some ocean waves or beaches or a big ram or rams or do it in keaney blue color or something that has to do with the state of Rhode Island.

I love Oregon's arena and floor.

So if Oregon's got a deep forest as their floor theme, what would be the theme for Rhody?

Well everything Oregon does is 1st class when it comes to marketing, unis and facilities...probably helps that nike uses them as their personal guinea pigs for new stuff.

Doing something with the beach or an ocean scene in different types of wood would be pretty cool though.

But we should include rhody fresh in everything...i just realized that cow spot has the state in it.

I actually saw a basketball game @ Oregon this year when they played Vanderbilt and I actually found their court to be loud and distracting in person...The atmosphere of the arena was fantastic however, it helped that college gameday was on campus for the Oregon vs Stanford football game the next day...

Kind of like Boise State's blue turf.
That's really distracting.
I think Eastern Washington U has a red field!
Maybe we could have a Keaney Blue court?

Honestly, just looking at the pictures of the Oregon court does kind of give me a headache. Maybe it is not so distracting in person. I think the design is awesome, but I'm not sure if I would want to have to look at that all the time.

Does anyone think there should be Rhody Blue borders on the floor instead of current Navy? I actually liked the original floor design when the Ryan Center opened. It had Rhody blue transitioning into Navy.

We retired Sly's number, only to have it unretired.
Chubin wore two different numbers at URI (4 is you count the old
odd-even road-home uniforms)
Silk should be honored. Cat?
Lamar wasn't here long enough.
We did have two AA and national scoring champions in the old days,
Stan Stutz, who played in the NBA, and Chet Jaworski.
How many AA/scoring champs have we ever had, besides Ernie?
Should be something for our history to remember.

Are COX and CBS College Sports going to be contributing ideas to the design? They will likely be the main tv homes of URI for years to come. Even if URI starts to win in the next few years, it is not likely that national tv outlets (such as ESPN and CBS) will be doing a significant number of games from the Ryan Center. To think so is sadly really just a dream. A program at our level in what will likely be a diminished A-10 is not suddenly becoming a national tv darling.
