Who Do You Want To Have A Worse 2018-19 Season

I have been thinking about this over the last few days & I think who I normally would have voted for has changed for this season. So this poll is just for the 2018-19 season.

Seriously, people are really picking Nevada? UConn I can at least understand (though dont agree with). But how could you honestly want Nevada to have a worse season than Providence? One is our bitter long time in-state rival who we are constantly compared against every step of the way and the other exercised an opt out in a contract!

As someone that picked Nevada, I'll explain my reasoning.

I don't want Providence to be terrible in a normal season. With our scheduling history, they're traditionally going to be one of our biggest games each season. If they suck, that's another big game we don't get to play each season when we're already looking for more challenges. Plus, rivalries only matter if the teams are good and relevant.

Nevada canceled because they thought they were too good for us this year. I want them to completely suck so Musselman looks like a total jackass

This is all perfectly reasonable, and the reason why you should want them to have the second worst season of the teams listed.

This is also perfectly logical and makes sense. But when it comes to Providence all logic and reason should be thrown out the window, and anything less than 0-30 for them should be viewed as a disappointment.

This is the kind of stuff that really makes me dislike this board...

Why root against other teams? Especially those that we play against like PC. I don't want to see any New England teams struggle. The better our teams are, the stronger the pipelines and conferences, and the better chances we have against the Dukes and Kansases of the world.

I'm a URI fan and root for us and have lots of friends and family who graduated from PC and Brown too. I don't root against anyone since I've lived away from RI since graduation. I love to see Brown, PC, Bryant, etc do really well and represent Rhode Island with pride!

Do we really need an entire thread on why we want to see other teams suck this year?

Completely agree with RR02.

I want UMass and PC to have good years so that it helps us when we wax that ass on the court.

*brokeback mountain music* I'll never root against Dan and I'll always love him for what he did here. That said, if we do see him in the tournament, I'd naturally want to see us embarass UConn and wax that ass on the court.

Nevada is top of the bitch list and I have never rooted for someone to fail so miserably. Their play doesn't affect us this year since we don't have them on the schedule. Their conference is one of comparable competitiveness to the A10, and as their premier program - them suffering would help prop up the A10 since there is always a premium for non-P5 schools to go to the dance.

At the 11th hour they bitched out and bailed on a contract that we took on all of the risk and travel bullshit for. We had to fly all the way across the country for a late-ass game, took an injury to our star player, and took an L - AND THEY BAILED ON US WHEN WE HAD THE CHANCE TO RETURN THE FAVOR. We could've played them at home last season, waxed that ass in front of a sold out Ryan Center on ESPN, had a Q1 win, and possibly not faced Duke in the 2nd round of the NCAA's - possibly looking at a Sweet 16 or beyond.

No, no - FUCK Nevada. If they never had another win or anything good happen to them, if Musselman got fired 3 years from now after compiling a .150 winning percentage, if the Martin twins get Space Jam'd and lose all their talent and never play in the NBA - all of that is too good for them.

Them bitching out is ABSOLUTELY worse than our rivals winning games. At least we see PC and UMass on the schedule so it helps us.

Fuck Nevada.

PS - totally never used the phrase "wax that ass" before, but it came out in the first sentence and I kind of ran with it. Has a t-shirt type of ring to it. #waxthatass. Don't hate it.

This is from a recruiting article today by Corey Evans regarding recruiting visits this weekend. Please PC/Cooley have one tournament win in 5 years and Evans talks about “if PC wants to take the final leap and ascend into ... the national title picture”. Omg, what an exaggeration.

Evans: "I am not sure that Akok Akok is an absolute must-get for Providence because of the program's consistency. The Friars have prided themselves on landing under-the-radar talent and cultivating it into something special, while also tossing in a few top-50 prospects in recent years. However, if Providence wants to take that final leap and ascend into Big East elitedom and the national title picture, the program needs to land Akok."

What do you folks think of the idea that you should have made the cancellation policy dollar amount larger, so as to effectively prevent Nevada from cancelling, and the fact that you failed to set an appropriately high dollar amount for the cancellation policy, thereby makes it your own fault for allowing Nevada to cancel, without having to suffer too much of a dollar loss?

I think such a claim is false. URI held up their end of the deal, so Nevada should have returned the favor.

Nevada had a cancellation policy of only $50k for the URI game at Nevada last year, whereas Nevada had a cancellation policy of $100k for some of their other home games last year.

Below link details Nevada's cancellation policy dollar amounts for their non-con games last year.

I think we made a blunder, for instance Davidson had a higher buyout and they'll have their return game, though pushed back a year. I think we should have been commanding more than Davidson as a team coming off a round of 32 appearance as a potential top 25 team.

I think we looked at the cancellation policy as a formality and assumed both sides were operating in good faith. I suppose it isn’t unfair to call that a blunder in retrospect, but I wouldn’t have thought much of it at the time if I’m being honest.

Also, every time I open this thread and see that UMass still has zero votes it makes me smile. So perfectly UMass, can’t even get any love in a thread about hate.

I pretty much agree. I'm not going to kill the athletic department on this one, they made a good match up and assumed the other party was approaching it in good faith. Fool me once I vote Nevada in this poll, fool me twice shame on us.
